About The Position

The Professor, Geology position at Central Campus requires maintaining an approved weekly schedule that includes classroom contact hours, student conference hours, professional development, and College service. The role involves providing classroom instruction for three (3) Geology lecture sections and three (3) Geology lab sections per week. The Professor will make a valuable contribution to the College in the areas of Teaching, Professional Development, and Service.

Requirements

Master's degree in Geology or related field with at least eighteen (18) graduate hours with an appropriate Geology rubric.

At least one (1) year of teaching experience in a college environment.
Experience with a wide-variety of pedagogical methodologies and assessment strategies.

Responsibilities

Maintain an approved weekly schedule that includes classroom contact hours, student conference hours, professional development, and College service.
Provide classroom instruction for three (3) Geology lecture sections and three (3) Geology lab sections per week.
Keep up with developments in the field.
Demonstrate high standards-academic and professional.
Evaluate student work constructively and provide timely feedback.
Teach at times and locations that meet student needs.
Provide access to students through posted conference hours, electronic communications, and other appropriate methods and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
Review, evaluate, and recommend student learning materials.
Develop and use a syllabus and course information materials for each lecture course and laboratory within state, college, and departmental guidelines.
Maintain high standards of competence in the discipline(s) and teaching methodologies through professional development activities.
Plan, develop, and use effective teaching methods and materials which assist students in meeting course objectives, are appropriate for students with different educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles, and engage the students in learning.
Review, evaluate, reflect, and revise program curricula and teaching methods through a self-evaluation process of self-reflection.
Meet or exceed professional standards, state-mandated guidelines, requirements of business/industry, and higher education, as appropriate to the discipline(s).
Actively participate in college meetings and/or committees, task forces, and councils.
Participate in college-related activities such as community education, recruitment of students, student retention, and faculty selection.
Participate in college activities for students/student organizations to aid in retention.
Participate in community activities that foster goodwill and promote the mission and values of the college.
Participate in activities required to maintain program and college accreditation standards.
Participate in setting departmental goals, in developing college budgets that support the goals, and in planning for achieving those goals.
Promote and maintain departmental affiliation agreements and other partnerships with other institutions.
