About The Position
The Division of General Internal Medicine is currently providing clinical services to the community of NW Ohio. An important aspect of the mission of the University of Toledo College of Mission and Life Sciences is educating students, residents and fellows as well as developing research programs related to geriatrics and internal medicine. As a full time, faculty member, he/she is required to devote his/her full professional efforts to the programs of the College of Medicine and Life Sciences, fulfilling at the highest level of professional competence. This is an academic position, which requires a combination of teaching, patient care, research/scholarship, as well as administrative activities, that are necessary for the function of the Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.
Requirements
- Must possess an MD/DO equivalent
- Successfully completed a residency in general internal medicine as well as a fellowship (if applicable)
- The candidate must be Board Certified or become Board Certified within 3 years of hire
- Must meet all the institutional requirements for appointment to Assistant Professor.
- Ability to successfully teach and mentor medical students, residents and fellows.
- Experience collaborating with specialists to explore patient health conditions and diagnose health issues.
- Experience working in a team of healthcare professionals and collaborating with them to ensure positive, effective patient experiences with our organization.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Teaching pre-clerkship medical students in the classroom, small groups and in other clinical or non-clinical settings
- Teaching rounds and ambulatory clinics with medical students during clerkship and during their advanced clinical rotations
- Didactics for medical students, residents and fellows
- Mentorship and advising for students, residents and fellows
- Departmental conferences such as Morbidity and Mortality Conference, Grand Rounds and Journal Clubs
- Participate in research and other scholarly activities related to the area of expertise and interest with expectation of intramural and extramural grant funding.
- Participate, to the extent that you may be reasonably called upon, in administrative and/or services functions of the Department of General Internal Medicine, the College of Medicine and Life Sciences or teaching hospital committees.
