About The Position
This is a faculty position responsible to the Chief of the Section of Neuropsychology and the Chair of the Department of Neuro-Oncology. The role involves providing clinical neuropsychological expertise in patient care and management for adult patients with cancer, those suffering from the neurological effects of cancer on the central nervous system, and patients with various medical, neurological, and psychiatric conditions. The position also includes participating in teaching fellows, externs, and graduate student trainees, engaging in clinical research related to the neuropsychological complications of cancer, and overseeing assigned technicians. Fellowship training in clinical neuropsychology is required, with additional training or experience in oncology being desired but not mandatory. Candidates must meet the criteria for full licensure in Texas.

- Must be able to work within a context of close interpersonal relationships including other clinicians, physicians, patients and subordinates.

Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient and outpatient clinical neuropsychological care to cancer patients.
- Practice neuropsychology in accordance with standards set forth by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists and the American Psychological Association.
- Provide clinician staffing for outpatient clinics and inpatient consultative services.
- Visually review for proper ICD-10 and CPT coding and approve all charge documents within 5 working days.
- Complete patient documentation for medical records within institutional time frames.
- Correspond with referring physicians regarding patient care and treatment.
- Attend continuing education conferences to stay updated on current approaches in patient management.
- Arrange appropriate consultations for neuropsychology patients by contacting other clinicians and physicians.
- Engage in clinical research and scholarly activity.
- Provide an educational experience in neuropsychology for externs, graduate students, and fellows.
- Attend and participate in department/division teaching and continuing education conferences.
- Serve on institutional and hospital committees.
- Represent the Department of Neuro Oncology and Section of Neuropsychology in professional matters.
- Travel to sites outside the Houston area and disseminate information obtained.
- Serve as a role model for faculty, fellows, externs, students, and psychometrists.
- Provide peer review for assessing the clinical practice of faculty.
- Work within a context of close interpersonal relationships with clinicians, physicians, patients, and subordinates.
