The College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas is seeking a full-time, 9-month faculty member at the rank of full professor with tenure to serve as the Professor and Windgate Endowed Chair in STEAM Education. The position is housed in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and is scheduled to begin August 16, 2027. It advances leadership and innovation in integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) teaching and learning, while establishing a highly visible signature research area in arts-integrated STEAM Education. The endowed chair serves as a catalyst for infusing the arts into traditional STEM disciplines and preparing teachers to use the arts to foster innovative mindsets among future scientists, engineers, and problem solvers. The chairholder leads an interdisciplinary STEAM research agenda, champions innovative STEAM programming and coursework, uses design thinking to facilitate authentic STEAM learning, advises the Arkansas A+ program, and partners with Arkansas schools. The role advances nationally recognized research, external research funding, educator preparation and professional development, and K–12 partnerships. Through teaching, research, and service, the position supports university priorities in student success, research excellence, and creating an employer-of-choice environment. This is an in-person position; on-campus presence and extensive in-person engagement—including office hours, student advising, collaboration, and committee meetings—are essential. Regular, reliable, non-disruptive attendance and the ability to maintain collegial working relationships are also essential.
