About The Position

North Greenville University is seeking applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Sport Management, and Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Sport Management, starting with the 2026-27 Academic Year. The rank and compensation will be determined by the candidate's experience. Applicants must possess an earned doctorate in Sport Management/Administration or a related field from an accredited institution. Essential qualifications include excellent oral and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and demonstrated leadership, vision, and collaborative skills to support the department and college's successful operation. A key requirement is the ability to integrate biblical faith into the teaching discipline. Prior leadership experience as a Chair or Program Coordinator is considered advantageous. North Greenville University, affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention, expects its faculty to be orthodox Christians with a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ, serving as role models in piety and ethics, maintaining active membership in an evangelical congregation, and mentoring students both academically and spiritually. Faculty are expected to be Christian scholars who approach their discipline from a biblical worldview and teach in accordance with the university’s Statement on Human Flourishing. All employees must abstain from illegal drugs and beverage alcohol, adhere to employee and faculty handbooks, including community standards, and affirm their understanding of and willingness not to teach contrary to the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in Sport Management/Administration from an accredited institution.
  • An established academic record including university teaching experience.

  • Demonstrated leadership, vision, and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management for the Department of Sport Management.
  • Serve on the leadership team for the College of Business and Entrepreneurship.
  • Assist the college leadership with strategic planning and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the full-time and part-time faculty within the department.
  • Conduct periodic program review for departmental curricula.
  • Develop departmental curricula, including course and program proposals and revisions.
  • Prepare annual Institutional Effectiveness reports for programs offered by the department.
  • Conduct an annual review of full-time faculty and adjunctive instructors in the department.
  • Coordinate curricular offerings each term.
  • Assist with faculty searches and recruit quality adjunctive instructors.
  • Assist with the onboarding of new faculty.
  • Lead the department in academic advising.
  • Maintain office hours.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and serve on university committees.
  • Participate in campus events (e.g., chapel, convocations, graduation, preview days, etc.).
  • Develop professionally through reading, practice, scholarship, and formal instruction.
  • Be involved in service to the University, the profession, the community, and the Church.
  • Teach courses in Sport Management. The normal course load is 18 semester hours per year.
  • Intentionally and explicitly integrate the Christian faith with teaching and scholarship.
  • Model genuine Christian faith in and beyond the workplace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the dean and associate dean.
