About The Position

The Professional Service Engineer - Production & Automation Software is responsible for the deployment of software solutions to Oil and Gas customers. This role involves installing, upgrading, and configuring SCADA and Production Optimization Systems, building screens, workflows, and reports, and providing custom solutions and system integration. The engineer will perform root-cause analysis, debug programs and scripts, and train users on system usage and administration. A key aspect of the role is gaining a deep understanding of Weatherford's SCADA and Production Optimization Products from a user perspective and troubleshooting issues related to SCADA hardware and radio communications. The position also requires supporting third-party application rollouts and interacting with customers to troubleshoot product issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering
  • 2-5+ years of experience
  • Experience in similar role troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with hardware and software.
  • Experience in Oil and Gas Industry – Production, Artificial Lift.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience in deploying and debugging Enterprise software in Microsoft Environment
  • Excellent debugging /knowledge of: C#, SQL, Powershell
  • SQL Server Management Experience.
  • Experience with ETL techniques and tools.
  • Experience in integrating applications.
  • Knowledge of Windows programming environment.
  • Knowledge of Web Security, Authentication and Authorization.
  • Enhance or make custom changes in existing utilities, batch scheduling.
  • Windows OS administration and support.
  • Microsoft Server OS knowledge
  • Working knowledge of automation and scripting concepts (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to support collaboration with technical teams and understand operational automation opportunities.
  • Database and middleware operational knowledge (backup/restore, performance tuning, HA/DR patterns)
  • Experience in SCADA, protocols such as MODBUS, OPC, MQTT, etc.
  • Experience in RTUs, PLCs, communication configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with CygNet SCADA, ForeSite, or similar software.
  • Understand OT and IT system architecture requirements for SCADA applications.
  • Knowledgeable of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Oil and Gas SCADA industry
  • Exposure to Open-Source Analytics.
  • Experience in Data Analytics, BI applications, and frameworks
  • Knowledge of Cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and web applications
  • Exposure to Software support.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to calmly manage crisis situations.
  • Ability to plan and organize daily and weekly tasks.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Install, Upgrade, and configure SCADA and Production Optimization Systems.
  • Build Screens, Workflows, and Reports to support customer operations and SCADA hardware.
  • Provide custom solutions, utilities and system integration using scripts along with procedural documentation and relevant reports.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of problems reported by debugging program/scripts, and if necessary, correct them or report them to Development.
  • Gain a firm understanding of Weatherford's SCADA and Production Optimization Products and how it works from the user perspective.
  • Able to troubleshoot issues related to SCADA hardware and radio communications
  • Train users in system usage and administration.
  • Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
  • Help field support/clients with upgrading and configuring software.
  • Interact with customers to understand and troubleshoot product issues.
  • Support for third party application rollout based on business needs
