HBK Engineering is seeking a Licensed Professional Engineer to join our team. This position leads, supports, and directs teams consisting of engineers, designers, and staff involved in the delivery and execution of project work, from design and analysis to the day-to-day management of direct report team members. This role involves the day-to-day management and development of direct report team members as well as the delivery and execution of project work. The engineer will direct and coordinate technical activities related to project execution and delivery, with a specific focus on civil engineering, linear telecommunications infrastructure, and utility/roadway/transportation corridors. A thorough understanding of both the technical and financial aspects of HBK’s work is required. The role involves specializing in a sub-field within their area of expertise to align with long-term industry trends, maintaining adequate technical competency to train, monitor, and mentor team members, and independently applying extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Advanced techniques will be used in the modification or extension of theories and practices of sciences and disciplines to complete assignments. The engineer will work on major projects or several projects of moderate scope with complex features, including linear underground and aerial utility route design. Responsibilities include reviewing complete project documents for conformity, constructability, and quality assurance, developing new techniques and/or improved processes, materials, or products, and completing timesheets in a timely (daily) and accurate manner. The role requires obtaining an in-depth understanding of their reporting manager’s expectations and project team structure, measuring personal performance and providing feedback and performance indicators to their reporting manager, and setting goals with their reporting manager for professional development and monitoring progress towards these goals for self. The engineer will assist reporting managers by bringing attention to issues or potential issues, addressing concerns that may affect safety, budget, deadlines, or clients adversely, and establishing positive relations within the project team(s) and with supporting groups within the company. Leadership is expected in company-sponsored events and HBK Impact programs, acting as a role model for positive performance, and driving continuous improvement and innovation across the organization. The role also involves taking a leadership role in making the HBK Organization a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for all people. The engineer supervises all staff necessary to complete assignments, reviews and approves scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments, and facilitates the formation of project teams and mediates conflict between team members. They will oversee, evaluate, and mentor direct reports in the day-to-day execution of their assigned projects and organizational responsibilities, maintaining regular one-on-one meetings with all direct reports on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to provide ongoing mentorship, guidance, and support. The role may involve advising in the development of Project Proposals / RFP responses, anticipating technical and constructability project challenges and working to minimize downstream project risk, and monitoring that all work is performed under contract, or gaining approval from their reporting Manager for work performed out of standard contract sequence.
