About The Position

Wilson Elser is seeking a client-focused Of Counsel or Partner-level attorney for its Professional Liability – Legal and Accounting Malpractice practice. This is a key leadership opportunity for a seasoned practitioner with a proven track record in defending legal and/or accounting professionals and firms, and a deep understanding of the legal, regulatory, and business challenges impacting the professions today. The ideal candidate will contribute immediately to our sophisticated practice, collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, and play a strategic role in firm growth. This position offers a flexible, hybrid or remote working arrangement.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to practice in the State of California
  • 10+ years of litigation experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-party litigation and advise clients on sophisticated corporate and regulatory matters

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience litigating and advising on issues affecting accounting and/or legal professionals and firms is a plus
  • National-level experience and familiarity with class action and multistate matters preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead counsel in litigation involving legal and accounting malpractice, ethics proceedings, regulatory compliance matters, and other business disputes frequently encountered by accounting and law firms.
  • Advise clients on risk management, ethics, licensing, partnership matters, M&A activity, and internal governance.
  • Proactively manage a litigation caseload, helping oversee cases from beginning to end.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to transportation laws, regulations, and legal standards.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other legal documents.
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations.
  • Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients, demonstrating strong advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Manage and grow client relationships with a focus on strategic, long-term engagement.
  • Work collaboratively across practice groups (e.g., cybersecurity, employment, commercial, and class actions) to offer comprehensive legal solutions.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to business development initiatives within the practice and firmwide.
  • Represent the firm externally through thought leadership, speaking engagements, and professional networks within the related industries.
