About The Position

The Professional Learning Specialist will manage multiple TXCPA and AcctoFi meetings, conferences, and events. This role involves developing educational curriculum and expanding AcctoFi’s learning opportunities for members and others in the accounting and finance profession. Key responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of program planning and development for assigned events, collaborating with committees, coordinating speakers and materials, managing logistics, and working with the marketing team. The specialist will also develop new learning delivery techniques and curriculum outlines, research new program topics, serve as a staff liaison for committees, and assist with budget processes. This position requires the ability to travel, lift up to 50 lbs, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years' experience in the meeting/events industry or with a professional association.
  • Two or more years’ experience with development of education content.
  • Must be detail oriented and organized, with exceptional time management skills.
  • Self-motivated, creative, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn other software that is integral to the position.
  • Experience in budgeting and record keeping.
  • Ability to travel overnight and weekends.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of college-level course work.
  • CMP (Certified Meeting Planner) designation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all areas of program planning and development for assigned events.
  • Work with conference/event committees to develop a content plan and major logistics.
  • Coordinate speakers, materials, and sponsorships.
  • Serve as primary contact/liaison with host facility.
  • Manage the revenue and attendance targets for each assigned program.
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications team to implement a marketing plan for each program.
  • Oversee expenses for each program, ensuring the accuracy of invoices and initiating payments for event expenses.
  • Collaborate with Manager, Learning to develop and implement new learning delivery techniques, curriculum outlines, and learning paths.
  • Research and recommend new topics for development of new program offerings.
  • Serve as staff liaison performing responsibilities and duties as outlined in the TXCPA Volunteer Policies and Procedures Manual for Conference Committees and any other committees or focus groups as assigned.
  • Serve as a backup conference and event coordinator for other meetings as needed.
  • Assist with annual Learning/CPE program and conference budget process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
