About The Position

Profession Leads are accountable for the overall delivery across multiple sites and service providers of collaborative practice that are consistent with the mission, vision and strategic direction and fostering interdisciplinary approaches to patient/resident/client care. The position promotes a safe environment for patients, residents, clients, families, visitors and staff. The Profession Lead, works collaboratively with others involved in the development and delivery of clinical and staff initiatives, standards and education within the WRHA. The Profession Lead is responsible to provide insight, guidance and support for overall education including orientation, professional education and staff development. The position works closely with health leaders across the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) other profession leads, Clinical Change Leads and Care Coordination for planning initiatives and education programs. The Profession Lead would assume the role of representing their discipline at various provincial tables as new strategic initiatives are being discussed and developed. The Profession Lead will work with Clinical Change leads on the planning and/or implement regional initiatives as appropriate. Centralized and service operations-based staff will be key partners, and the development of positive collaborative working relationships is a key facilitator to accomplishing the work required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years recent related experience in the areas of clinical education, staff development and/or management development.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in healthcare clinical service delivery required.
  • Skilled in leadership competencies.
  • Eligible for registration with the appropriate undergraduate/graduate licensing body.
  • Ability to work in a complex environment that includes working with and across various programs and sectors.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff and management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a community engagement approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply principles of adult learning and teaching strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to function creatively and independently.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and support system changes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with diverse colleagues to achieve outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Management experience in the Community, Continuing Care or Acute Care sectors is an asset.
  • Experience with project management and change management preferred.
  • Experience working with multiple disciplines and across health and social systems is an asset.
  • Master's degree in a health-related discipline, preferred.
  • Graduate and/or undergraduate degrees must be in a relevant field.
  • Formal preparation in adult education.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating community and continuing care or acute care policies, professional standards and education activities in collaboration with Shared Health as well as SDO colleagues.
  • Development of a plan including orientation and ongoing clinical/staff education in consideration of all service areas in community and continuing care and these sectors’ needs.
  • Working closely with Shared Health, WRHA regional colleagues as it pertains to initiatives broader than the continuing care and community or acute care sectors, and with their counterpart in Family Services (FS) to ensure integration and collaboration of initiatives.
  • Representing their discipline at various provincial tables as new strategic initiatives are being discussed and developed.
  • Working with Clinical Change leads on the planning and/or implement regional initiatives as appropriate.
