About The Position

American Buildings Company - IL is seeking a talented Professional Engineer (P.E.) to join their team in El Paso, IL. This role is crucial for designing innovative, safe, accurate, and cost-effective metal building systems that contribute to sales growth and profitability. As a P.E., you will be responsible for the comprehensive design of metal building systems, ensuring adherence to high standards of quality and performance. The position offers unique projects, a holistic design approach from base plate up, and opportunities for professional development within the Nucor Buildings Group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering/Architectural Engineering from an ABET Accredited school.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication in the English language.
  • Strong knowledge of structural building codes: IBC, AISC 360, AISC 341, AISC 358, ASCE7, AISI, etc.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in the United States with the ability to be licensed in other states as needed.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).
  • Ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • A background in Engineering in the Pre-Engineered Metal Building Industry.
  • Proficiency with some type of metal building design software package.

Responsibilities

  • Designing all aspects of metal building systems, including structural steel, wall and roof panels, secondary members, and stability bracing.
  • Developing safe and economical structures that fulfill project requirements while adhering to industry codes and standards.
  • Utilizing proprietary software for frame, secondary, bracing, crane, mezzanine, and panel analysis to ensure structural integrity and performance.
  • Collaborating with the Detailing Department and other team members to communicate design requirements effectively.
  • Reviewing and checking structural drawings for accuracy.
  • Embracing opportunities to grow and develop as an engineer, collaborating with various teams to find innovative solutions and explore unique career paths.
