About The Position

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Engineer to join our Environment Remediation Practice team in Raleigh, North Carolina. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering environmental remediation consulting services to our key clients. The successful candidate will assume leadership roles on projects and within the department, and will develop strong relationships with the team, and with clients to enable the pursuit of new opportunities. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and work both independently and as a part of a project team. The successful candidate will be committed to the team’s success and growth; will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures; will manage the technical, cost and schedule elements of project delivery; and will effectively manage the quality of field efforts and project deliverables within the bounds of the AECOM Quality Management System. For the ideal candidate, this position will combine project work and some business development.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Environmental, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Geotechnical Engineering + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) Licensure, certifications, and/or accreditations
  • Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review
  • Due to the nature of this work, United States citizenship is a requirement
  • Current OSHA 40-hr Hazardous Waste Operations Training and Refreshers

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree in Environmental, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Geotechnical Engineering
  • 7+ years of working in an environmental consulting firm.
  • Experience in project management
  • Proficient technical writing (remedial investigation reports, corrective action studies, etc.)
  • Familiarity with State (i.e., NCDEQ, etc.) and Federal Environmental Regulations

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the NC/SC Environment Remediation Practice Area Manager and other teams within the Environment Business Line and Remediation Practice, and professionals within other AECOM business lines.
  • Serve as the Engineer of Record, sealing and signing reports, permits, drawing sets, technical specifications, and related regulatory documents.
  • Act as Project Manager on small to mid-sized projects, responsible for technical delivery, schedule management, fiscal management, client liaison, reporting requirements, and coordination with project team members.
  • Projects may include site investigations, remedial investigation and remedial alternative development, including work plans for delineation and pilot testing, data evaluation and refinement of conceptual site models, and feasibility studies to support remedy selection.
  • Lead teams in the preparation of design calculations, remediation system designs, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Provide technical support and leadership of project teams during construction and operations phases of remedial actions, including construction and regulatory coordination and support through to project closeout.
  • Lead teams to develop and deliver engineering designs for complex and large-scale projects, including design packages for material excavation and handling, landfill design and construction, dewatering and water treatment, stormwater management, site plans and grading, and related work.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate environmental considerations and requirements into project designs.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to increase project efficiencies, improve technical methodologies, and add value to client service offerings.
  • Stay updated on emerging environmental technologies and sustainable design practices.
  • Perform quality control reviews of work prepared by others.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior staff.
