About The Position

The Production Worker / Packaging Operator is responsible for performing two primary functions: the bagging operation and the baler operation. The individual must be able to perform both functions as directed by Shift Leads. This role involves operating machinery safely and productively, assisting in other production areas, moving and wrapping completed products, and maintaining a clean workstation. The position requires lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for at least 7 hours per day. The Forklift Operator aspect involves operating a forklift to move, transport, and stack pallets of wood pellets, load trucks, count inventory, and stack junk pallets. Communication with coworkers and leads is essential.

Requirements

  • Good eye, hand, and foot coordination.
  • Pass company forklift training.
  • Ability to read and interpret scales.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to adjust weight and timing of baler and perform simple maintenance.
  • Ability to perform simple math calculations.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing for a minimum of 7 hours per day.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior forklift and production line experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate machinery in a productive manner using established safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Assist other production areas as needed.
  • Move and wrap completed products.
  • Assist Shift Leads to start and stop pellet mills.
  • Communicate any moisture or material problems to Shift Lead.
  • Maintain a clean workstation.
  • Operate bagging and baler machines, shrink wrapping machines, forklifts, pallet jack, and bag sealer.
  • Stack bags on pallets, put covers on pallets, and place finished goods in the correct warehouse location.
  • Complete the Bagger production report accurately, fill pellet sample cups every ton for quality control, and tag pallets with Quality Control tag.
  • Stack bales on pallets, seal bales with an iron, and wrap pallets.
  • Complete the Baler Operator production report accurately, check bale weight, and record information on reports and quality control tags.
  • Operate forklift in warehouse and production areas to move, transport, and stack wrapped pallets of wood pellets.
  • Operate forklift to load trucks for delivery, ensuring all required paperwork is filled out and signed.
  • Count and record pallets for inventory purposes.
  • Stack junk pallets until they can be disposed of properly.
  • Maintain communication with co-workers and control room leads on status of work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
