PCC Talent Acquisition Portal•Portland, OR

About The Position

The Production Wax Assembler assembles complex, segmented, multi-component patterns in dimensionally controlled fixtures in preparation for the gating process. The role involves inspecting pattern components and fixtures, following detailed technique-card instructions, selecting assembly methods, and using tools and fixturing to maintain dimensional integrity. Assemblies are inspected during and after the process to identify defects and ensure quality. The position is for a weekend shift, Friday through Sunday.

Requirements

  • Ability to apply pattern assembly techniques, methods, materials, fixturing, and construction.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and promote team development.
  • Ability to read and follow complex written instructions.
  • Ability to lift or maneuver objects weighing 30 to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 125 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work in conditions that may include noise, fumes, crowding, awkward physical positions, abrasions, cuts, and chemicals.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience assembling wax patterns and/or pattern finishing, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect pattern components and dimensional fixtures before loading and before assembly begins.
  • Read and follow technique-card instructions describing complex assembly steps.
  • Plan methods for assignments and select among alternative assembly methods.
  • Assemble complex, multi-component patterns while maintaining dimensional integrity.
  • Use a torch, hot pencils, and a variety of hand tools to assemble patterns.
  • Use dimensional fixturing to maintain dimensional control and stability.
  • Manipulate fixture and pattern components to resolve configuration discrepancies and verify dimensional integrity.
  • Possibly develop code sheets for engineering-requested modifications or deviations from standard assemblies.
