About The Position

This role is responsible for assembling complex components, including pattern and gating systems, to produce finished mold forms for investment casting. The assembler will prepare and inspect components, follow technique card instructions for assembly, and ensure dimensional integrity of the final product. Additionally, the role involves operating moderately complex molding machines, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Two years of production wax assembly experience preferred OR Two years of Mold Machine Operator B or A experience OR An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Thorough knowledge of assembly techniques, methods, materials, fixturing and construction.
  • Ability to follow and communicate complex written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations.
  • Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds.
  • Ability to work in conditions which may include exposure to noise, fumes, crowding, awkward physical positions, abrasions, cuts, and chemicals.
  • Skill in wax injection molding operations, as demonstrated by three to six months of competent performance in any wax molding utility, leach tank or core/gate cleaner positions.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect patterns and gating components prior to assembly.
  • Read and follow technique card assembly instructions.
  • Assemble complex wax patterns and gating components using various tools and materials.
  • Seal gates into place using dip seal wax, torch, or hot pencil.
  • Assemble complex patterns using full-time assembly fixturing to maintain dimensional control and stability.
  • Manipulate fixture/pattern components to remove configuration discrepancies and verify dimensional integrity.
  • Smooth and gauge assembly contact areas.
  • Inspect difficult assemblies during and after the process for defects and quality.
  • Set up, monitor, and control mold machine functions.
  • Keep dies clean during molding operations.
  • Remove wax parts from die, inspect for defects, and trim.
  • Clean wax parts as required.
  • Complete logs and records, documenting any modifications.
  • Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
  • Safely operate all equipment and tools.
  • Identify and report safety problems.
  • Train less skilled assemblers as assigned.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
