About The Position

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Production Trainer 9 position for OK Operations. This is an individual contributor position that is responsible for providing training in pole fabrication, welding, procedures, specification, and drawings. Incumbent will be tasked to aid in the development of Welders, Fitters, and other production employees for Valmont. The Incumbent is also responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and tracking site training. The incumbent may from time be asked to assist Safety and other Managers or Supervisors in plant safety and quality assurance functions.

Requirements

• Must be Safety, Quality and Production minded.
• Minimum of eight years of welding experience and five years in a production role at Valmont.
• Candidate must be willing to understand people of differing personalities and backgrounds to be an effective teacher.
• Capable of training Valmont Welders, Fitters, and other production employees in multiple settings, including classroom, shop floor, and large/small groups.
• Must have the ability to Train, Coach and Develop.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Requires adding, subtracting, multiplying, and use of basic math to perform calculations and conversions.
• Must possess adequate communication and people skills to successfully interact with other employees.
• Must display an aptitude for problem solving and the ability to plan for potential problems, diagnose welding problems and their cause and remedies.

Nice To Haves

• A high school diploma or GED
• Ten plus years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment, five plus years at Valmont.
• At least one year training and instruction in a classroom or shop setting.
• Bilingual, English - Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• The trainer is responsible for the development and training of new employees in the production areas.
• The trainer must ensure all new additions are instructed in the best safety practices, good housekeeping techniques, and general Valmont policies.
• Assist Management to ensure proper welding and fitting quality and other training being introduced and reinforced in the plant.
• Perform Quality Control, Safety and Production related functions when not in training and as required.
• The Trainer will instruct new hires on the proper setup and operation of Welding, Gouging, Cutting, Hand & Inspection tools, and Overhead Crane use.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret Welding symbols, Specifications, and Drawing.
• The trainer must develop, maintain, and keep a log of employee training.
• Communicate honest feedback on to Management on the trainee’s progress.
• Determine trainees in each department to assist in back end of training process and allow further growth of new employees.
