About The Position

MetOcean Telematics Limited (MetOcean) is seeking a full-time Production Test Designer to join their Operations team. This role reports to the Lead Manufacturing Technician and is responsible for developing and supporting production test solutions to ensure products meet quality, performance, and reliability standards. The position focuses on test automation, troubleshooting, process improvement, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to support efficient and scalable production operations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electronics and circuit design with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficient in testing principles and test automation technologies.
  • Experience with JTAG and implementing boundary scan.
  • Experience with harness and cabling testing.
  • Experience working with RF-enabled products in wireless testing environments.
  • Solid coding skills, capable of developing Windows-based software applications.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control and standard operational theory.
  • Ability and eagerness to learn new technologies.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
  • Experience in a similar role or utilizing similar skill sets.
  • Experience working with contractors to develop bed-of-nails solutions for PCA testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience creating and utilizing SQL databases considered an asset.
  • Experience working with the .NET platform (C# or VB) considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the maintenance and development of our production test platform for MetOcean’s product portfolio within the production facility.
  • Design and build automated/semi-automated test solutions for products within production; including the procurement of test equipment and the coding of test control software.
  • Ensure PCBA’s, electronic sub-assembly’s, RF communication devices, mechanical housings are properly tested and assembled by utilizing automated testing and tracking software.
  • Architect and maintain a production test database (SQL).
  • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure products are designed for production and can properly be tested, calibrated and debugged.
  • Work with production team members to continually improve our production test times, throughput, and test coverage.
  • Monitor product yields, generate reports for product yields and other key performance indicators.
  • Provide ongoing test and product support, working closely with all members of the operations team.
