Sun Chemical is seeking a Production Technician to join our New Brunswick, NJ facility.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills, understanding of electronic batch ticketing (EBT) systems with the ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to follow directions and work well in a team
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Math skills and ability to work with percentages
  • Capable of repeatedly lifting 55+ lbs. and standing for long periods of time
  • Ability to work on elevated surfaces using stairs or step stools when required.
  • Ability to work 40 hrs. weekly and overtime
  • High School Diploma or equivalent certificate (GED)
  • Forklift Certified
  • Able to read and understand batch tickets
  • Basic math skill proficiency
  • Able to lift 55 pounds
  • Able to climb stairs/ladders

Nice To Haves

  • First Aid, AED, and CPR trained a plus

Responsibilities

  • Measure, weigh, and load pigments and resins into mills according to batch tickets.
  • Adjust controls to regulate temperature and times of mixtures according to batch ticket and knowledge of equipment (Ball Mills, dryer) and processes.
  • Observe safety precautions to prevent injuries, accidents, and fires.
  • Patrol work areas to detect leaks and equipment malfunctions.
  • Provide and maintain a safe work environment by participating in safety programs, committees, teams, and conducting laboratory and plant safety audits.
  • Monitor recording instruments, other indicators, and listen for warning signals, in order to verify conformity of process conditions.
  • Control or operate chemical processes, systems and machines with PLC.
  • Confer with technical and supervisory personnel to report or resolve conditions affecting safety, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Draw samples of products at specified stages. Conduct quality control tests to monitor processing and to ensure that standards are met.
  • Package and label finished products with proper labels in compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Load and unload trucks, record incoming raw materials.
  • Pick finished goods for shipping.
  • Correctly label hazardous and nonhazardous goods per DOT requirements.
  • Keep production logs.
  • Clean production equipment and work areas.
  • Collect hazardous or non-hazardous waste in correctly labeled containers and transfer them to collection areas.
  • Provide production, progress, or changeover reports to supervisors and coworkers.
  • General maintenance – grease, lubricate equipment.
