California Closets British Columbia is a growing franchise with plenty of opportunities for advancement. We are currently hiring for the position of Production Technician in Burnaby. California Closets specializes in manufacturing custom closets and home organization solutions. As a Shop Technician, you will work in Quality Control (QC), Material Sorting, CNC Workstations, Accessories, and Assembly. Reporting to the Working Shop Supervisor, the Production Technician is a specialized role. This position involves operating woodworking machines, using hand tools, preparing measurements, and reading and understanding shop drawings.

Requirements

  • Work hours are from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
  • Occasional overtime and Saturday work may be required. Flexibility is appreciated.
  • Skill development is based on demonstrated competence and written certification.
  • Problem-solving is a key component of effective production.
  • English proficiency: Ability to speak and read English.
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and maintain multiple workstations, including edgebanders, assembly, CNC machinery, QC, sorting, and accessories.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as lubricating and cleaning equipment.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, such as calipers and measuring tapes, to verify and compute dimensions of finished pieces, ensuring they match the Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of building materials, including colors and thicknesses.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings and blueprints accurately.
  • Ensure attention to detail and maintain a strong focus on safety.
  • Practice good housekeeping to maintain a safe and clutter-free worksite.
  • Perform material handling tasks, including counting, sorting, packing, and unpacking.
  • Proactively communicate job conditions and concerns that may affect the completion of the job.
