About The Position

Ballard’s Manufacturing Department is hiring Production Technicians to join the Buy America team at its new facility in Bend, Oregon. The role is responsible for assembling and testing state-of-the-art fuel cell modules. It also supports part inspection, tool calibration, production recordkeeping, troubleshooting with engineering, and process improvement activities.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in a production environment.
• High school diploma.
• Proficient mechanical skills.
• Computer and mathematical literacy.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Experience interfacing with ERP and data collection systems.
• Ability to travel to Canada for periodic training.
• Ability to follow electronic and written work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent oral communication skills.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Post-secondary technical education or military training is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and test electromechanical assemblies for fuel cell systems.
• Operate material handling systems, assembly carts, pallet jacks, and cranes.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Interface with document control and ERP systems.
• Use inspection equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance of production equipment.
• Collect data and organize and maintain records.
• Follow safety and quality standards and raise issues when appropriate.
• Assist engineering with system troubleshooting and process improvement activities.
• Assist with part inspection and maintain tool calibration.
