About The Position

Perform all industrial operations in Primary Production facility in compliance with standard operating and maintenance procedures. The Production Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a cryogenic liquid depot, focusing on the receipt of liquid Argon (LAR) and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) via rail car and the distribution of product to transport trailers. This role ensures that all product transfers meet strict purity specifications while maintaining a site-wide culture of safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the offloading of liquid Argon and CO2 rail cars into stationary storage vessels, including the connection of cryogenic hoses and monitoring of pressure/volume during the transfer process.
  • Execute the loading of liquid product from storage tanks into trailers, encompassing tasks such as weighing-in/out transports, connecting loading hoses, and operating loading pumps.
  • Perform weighing operations on commercial scales, ensuring compliance with state regulations (e.g., NYS compliance) and coordinating bypass procedures during scale maintenance.
  • When required by site conditions, perform direct transfilling from rail cars to trailers to ensure supply chain continuity.
  • Conduct required purity testing and sampling for both empty transports and product in storage to verify specifications are met.
  • Issue Certificates of Analysis (COA) and ensure all shipping paperwork and Certificates of Supplemental Analysis (CSCOA) are accurate and reflect the current required revisions.
  • Maintain current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) to ensure product integrity, particularly for CO2 deliveries.
  • Perform regular calibration of analyzers and maintain quality logs within systems like Intelex.
  • Implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and obtain necessary Site Work Permits (SHIELD in the Field) for maintenance and high-risk tasks.
  • Proactively identify and report equipment anomalies (e.g., valve packing leaks, PSV issues) to prevent product loss or safety incidents.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the Emergency Action Plan (EAP), including emergency isolation procedures for pipeline and storage systems.
  • Utilize personal air monitors and adhere to all PPE requirements for handling cryogenic liquids.
  • Conduct regular rounds and readings, utilizing the Distributed Control System (DCS) to monitor trends and system performance.
  • Perform minor repairs, such as valve packing adjustments and filter changes, and assist with water treatment management and chemical adjustments.
  • Coordinate site-specific tasks including snow management to maintain traffic flow and ensure adequate parking for transport trailers.
  • Manage site consumables and spare parts, including the organization of storage containers (Conex) for maintenance efficiency.
