Production Technician, Fluid Bed Dryer (1st Shift)

About The Position

The Production Technician (Fluid Bed Dryer) performs a wide variety of tasks to prepare and ensure the operation of new production equipment in powder and tea manufacturing. The position plays a key role in troubleshooting and changing out equipment. It requires knowledge of Fluid Bed Dryers and the ability to train others within the facility, along with flexibility to rotate into various positions as needed. Team members must maintain knowledge of process flow and computerized equipment, recognize process hazards, and understand and follow standard operating procedures. The role includes production work such as manufacturing and changeovers, with a focus on Fluid Bed Dryer operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and changeover. The technician also supports planning for new equipment and trains others as needed. There are no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

At least 1 year of external manufacturing experience or at least 6 months of Herbalife experience.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to operate production and sanitation equipment to company specifications.
Ability to instruct and train others.
Good documentation practices, including legibility.
Ability to communicate and interact with supervisors, OEM representatives, team members, and trainees.
Good mechanical and technical aptitude.
Ability to calculate yields and variances and troubleshoot using good math skills.
Ability to interface with machines, controls, and computers.
Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
Problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working independently and as part of a team.
Experience setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and changing over Fluid Bed Dryers.
Experience loading and discharging products from Fluid Bed Dryers.
Ability to perform visual product quality checks before, during, and after processing.
Working experience as a manufacturing, packaging, or changeover technician in nutraceuticals.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree.
Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) experience.
FDA or other regulatory experience.
Experience using High Speed Mixers, Powder Blenders, Fluid Bed Dryers, Sifters, Scales, or liquid batching systems.
One year of manufacturing experience and at least 6 months at Herbalife.
Food manufacturing or packaging experience.
Experience working on a manufacturing Strike Team; Herbalife Strike Team experience preferred.
Detailed Fluid Bed Dryer training or experience from a past employer or OEM.

Responsibilities

Perform production jobs, including manufacturing and changeovers.
Operate and change over Fluid Bed Dryers.
Troubleshoot equipment to minimize machine downtime.
Complete rapid equipment changeouts to minimize downtime and ensure quality production.
Serve as a subject matter expert on Fluid Bed Dryer operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and changeovers.
Ensure equipment clearances with Quality Control before processing begins.
Follow safety procedures and report unsafe acts or conditions.
Certify in and follow GMPs and written SOPs.
Clean and maintain equipment.
Comply with company policies, procedures, safety rules, and regulations.
Assist the Senior Manager, Process and Packaging Equipment, with planning each phase of new equipment.
Communicate procedures effectively and train others on jobs, equipment, and products as needed.
Rotate into various production positions when needed.
Maintain knowledge of process flow, computerized equipment, and associated hazards.
