About The Position

Olympus Controls is seeking a Production Technician II to join their fast-paced Automation Company. This role is for a well-organized, highly motivated individual with strong attention to detail and proficiency in electromechanical assemblies. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-6 years’ experience in manufacturing of electromechanical devices or electrical panels required.
  • Highly proficient computer user.
  • Demonstrable IPC 620 proficiency or documented training required.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying 50 pounds.
  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks and sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Regularly possess manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional technical schooling, training, or certifications preferred.
  • Demonstrable UL 508A proficiency or documented training highly preferred.
  • IPC 620 training and/or certification highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and safely assemble electromechanical assemblies in accordance with drawings, written, or verbal instructions.
  • Solder, strip, crimp, and splice electrical wires.
  • Build mechanical subassemblies using a variety of fastening methods.
  • Torque fasteners to proper specification and sequence.
  • Route cables and secure wiring throughout systems.
  • Properly and consistently attach labels or name plates to assemblies, components, or cables.
  • Measure dimensions to verify proper clearance of parts.
  • Safely use standard assembly tooling (hex wrenches, screw drivers, wire cutters, wire strippers, torque tools, etc.).
  • Use appropriate tooling/fixtures to aid in proper assembly.
  • Read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Inspect and test subassemblies.
  • Verify mechanical functionality, where appropriate.
  • Test for electrical continuity using a voltmeter.
  • Read and understand bill of material structure; escalate errors or discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
  • Visually inspect components for flaws/damage and escalate issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with miscellaneous tasks as assigned, which may include packaging finished goods, material handling (kitting), warehouse cleanup and organization, etc.
  • Maintain Olympus Controls’ values and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including participation in 5S program.
  • Communicate ideas and facts in a professional manner to all stakeholders.
  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks and sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Regularly possess manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
  • Upload component firmware (“configure devices”) according to written instructions.
  • Adhere to the company’s redline process to clearly document any as-built changes.
  • Maintain accurate accounting of project materials and report any discrepancies appropriately.
  • Rework and/or repair equipment and products as instructed.
  • Participate in the development of work instructions as needed, which may include writing simple work instructions, cutsheets, or assembly notes.
  • Safely use advanced tooling (power tools, CableEye, etc).
  • Demonstrate high level of proficiency building cables/wire harnesses with wire down to 30AWG.
  • Be highly knowledgeable about IPC 620, training and/or certification highly preferred.
  • Demonstrate high level of proficiency in the layout, routing, and termination of wires for UL 508A electrical panels.
  • Effectively manage the demands of working on multiple projects simultaneously, willing and able to change priorities as needed.
  • Assume a leadership role on select first article projects, as assigned.
  • Assume a leadership role in continuous improvement and 5S activities and audits, as assigned.
  • Effectively collaborate with engineering and the operations team on first article builds to establish order of assembly, layout, workflow, identify the need for special tooling, communicate facilities requirements, and communicate project status.
  • Perform intermediate/advanced troubleshooting for electromechanical assemblies (motors, cables, electrical panels, mechanical assemblies).
  • Identify the need for, and assist in, the development of tools/jigs to facilitate assembly processes.
  • Operate and maintain test fixtures, devices, and test cables.
  • Perform field service, as needed.
  • Proficiently navigate 3D CAD/e-drawings as an aid to assembly.
  • Perform full system cold checks using a schematic ("continuity checks").
  • Obtain company-sponsored high-voltage electrical safety training to act as a "qualified" worker to safely perform hot checks for new systems.
  • Act as a leader for the entire production team, upholding Olympus Controls’ values, ethics, and commitments to quality and safety.
  • Mentor and assist with training of less experienced associates.
