About The Position

The Production Team Lead is responsible for the safety and productivity of production employees assigned to a designated shift and for ensuring production schedules are completed in a timely manner. In the Packout department, the Team Lead supports team members in packaging finished products accurately, safely, and in accordance with customer requirements, while coordinating daily activities to meet production schedules and shipping deadlines. The role also supports quality, inventory, workflow, housekeeping, and continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities

Maintain a clean, safe, positive, and productive work environment.
Ensure production schedules are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner, monitoring applicable measures such as production dollars per day, schedule attainment, productivity, and overtime.
Understand feeder schedules to ensure materials are supplied for production of building coils.
Ensure a quality product is shipped and perform quality checks on products and parts.
Train, assign, and direct fellow employees; promote team problem solving, employee involvement, and good morale.
Maintain equipment, tooling, and supplies, and perform related duties as necessary.
Identify and initiate continuous improvement efforts.
Provide employee feedback to the supervisor for yearly reviews.
Lead and support packout team members in packaging finished products accurately, safely, and according to customer requirements.
Coordinate daily packout activities to meet production schedules and shipping deadlines.
Verify coil identification, quantities, and customer specifications before packaging and shipment.
Accurately enter product, packaging, and shipment information into company computer systems.
Oversee construction of boxes, crates, and other packaging materials to protect products during transit.
Ensure completed coils are weighed and documented accurately before shipment.
Assist with packout operations as needed to support workflow and production demands.
Maintain packaging-material inventory and order packout supplies as necessary.
Coordinate with Shipping, Production, Materials, and Quality departments to ensure efficient movement to finished goods.
Inspect packaged products for quality, accuracy, and compliance with customer and company requirements.
Monitor housekeeping and maintain a clean, organized, and safe department.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery.
Troubleshoot packaging, inventory, and shipment issues and escalate concerns when necessary.
