About The Position

The Production Support Technician will be responsible for cleaning and finishing graphite growth material for installation into CVD furnaces, ensuring repeatability and attention to detail. This role involves loading and unloading the zinc casting furnace, casting material for CVD furnaces, and supporting operators during the disassembly and assembly of CVD growth furnaces. Additionally, the technician will perform general labor, including cleaning and organizing production areas, and strictly adhere to established procedures and protocols for handling highly toxic materials. A key aspect of this role is participation in the Process Safety Management (PSM) process to maintain compliance with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP standards, as well as learning and following DEP standards for hazardous waste. The technician will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in the CVD department and may participate as a member of the Coherent Saxonburg Site Emergency Response Team (ERT), which includes required training.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Have experience in manufacturing, maintenance, construction, utilities, automotive, skilled trades, military, or other hands-on roles.
Are mechanically inclined and comfortable working with tools, equipment, and process systems.
Can follow detailed procedures and understand the importance of doing work safely and correctly every time.
Are reliable, detail-oriented, and able to retain technical and safety-related information.
Are comfortable working rotating shifts in an industrial environment.
Communicate well with teammates, supervisors, and support groups.
Take pride in learning a specialized role and becoming a qualified technician through training and experience.
Have basic computer skills for data entry, logging, and equipment interfaces.
Ability to stand or sit for up to 12 hours per shift.
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Ability to climb, bend, reach, push, pull, and work on ladders or mechanical lifts.
Ability to wear required PPE and safety equipment for extended periods.
Ability to meet physical requirements for required Emergency Response Team participation.
All employees must comply with site EHS procedures and Coherent Corporate EHS standards.

Nice To Haves

Prior manufacturing, industrial, maintenance, or skilled trades experience is helpful but not required.
You do not need prior experience with CVD systems or the materials used in this process.
This role is well suited for candidates who may not have direct industry experience but bring strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

Graphite growth material cleaning and finishing for installation into CVD furnaces with repeatability, close attention to detail and following established operating procedures.
Loading and unloading of zinc casting furnace, casting material for use in CVD furnaces.
Operator support during disassembly and assembly of CVD growth furnaces for efficient preparation of CVD production runs.
General labor cleaning and organizing of production areas following assembly and closing of production furnaces.
Strictly adhere to established procedures, policies, and protocols to reduce the risk of accidental release or exposure to highly toxic materials.
Participate in the Process Safety Management (PSM) process to maintain compliance with OSHA PSM and EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) standards.
Learn and follow DEP standards for safe handling and storage of hazardous waste.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in the CVD department.
Participate as a member of the Coherent Saxonburg Site Emergency Response Team (ERT), including completion of required training (such as 40-hour HAZWOPER) and ongoing refresher requirements.
