About The Position

Looking for Database and Unix Production support Engineer. As a Production Support Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and efficiency of production systems and applications. The candidate will work closely with development and operations teams to troubleshoot issues, deploy fixes, and implement enhancements to our production environment. This role must be filled at the client site 5 days per week in Pittsburgh PA. For this role on this particular client engagement, employer sponsorship of immigration‑related visa and/or green card status as part of the PERM process will not be available.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor production systems and applications for performance issues or errors and promptly troubleshoot and resolve identified problems.
  • Resolving production issues by analyzing root causes, assessing tickets, and collaborating with cross functional teams, ensuring SLA adherence as per Organization standards.
  • Work with Business users and Application Production Support team to handle the application issues and user requests.
  • Create Incidents, Change Requests, release documentation to ensure smooth transitions with minimal downtime.
  • Create documentation for support procedures, system configurations, and incident resolutions.
  • Scheduling the mainframe CA7 jobs and monitoring them during support hours.
  • Perform configuration checks, input file validations, and troubleshooting on Linux servers in the application to ensure seamless operations.
  • Analysis, design and development modules with Oracle, PL/SQL, Informatica and SQL.
  • Tuning PL/SQL Blocks & queries using hints and utilities such as DBMS_PROFILER, Explain Plan.
  • Familiar with UNIX functions and writing Shell Scripts and Scheduling jobs using Cron tabs.
  • Respond to and manage incidents and outages, ensuring minimal disruption to services and user impact.
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders, including users, developers, and other team members, to ensure clear information flow and effective issue resolution.
