About The Position

IPL Schoeller, formed on July 1, 2025, from the merger of IPL Plastics and Schoeller Allibert, is a leading manufacturer of sustainable rigid packaging solutions. The company operates 11 manufacturing plants in North America and 16 in Europe, with its headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, and employs approximately 4,100 people globally. As a Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the manufacturing floor, ensuring production schedules are met efficiently and safely. This role requires a hands-on leader capable of managing a team, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining high standards of quality and productivity.

Requirements

  • College diploma or equivalent training/experience.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Good technical knowledge of injection presses, molds, plastic materials, and peripheral equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Good command of the French language.
  • Basic knowledge of the English language.
  • Track record of managing production teams and meeting production targets.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control standards.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using production management software and tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good knowledge of C-TPAT, SQF/HACCP and ISO standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment; or extensive experience in all areas of production as a production operator.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of production workers.
  • Ensure production schedules are met and products meet quality standards.
  • Champion, monitor, and enforce safety protocols and procedures.
  • Train and mentor production staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate production records and reports.
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize production processes and workflows.
  • Monitor and manage production Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure targets are met.
  • Be proficient in starting, stopping, and adjusting machines.
  • Recognize and resolve common molding defects (e.g., short shots, flash, splay).
  • Perform minor repairs and coordinate with maintenance for major issues.
  • Conduct visual inspections, dimensional checks, and use gauges or calipers.
  • Lead machine operators and technicians, assigning tasks, and monitoring performance.
  • Onboard new staff and reinforce best practices.
  • Provide clear and concise updates to incoming supervisors or managers.
  • Make quick decisions to minimize downtime and scrap.
  • Enforce PPE use, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe machine operation.
  • Document and escalate safety or quality incidents.
  • Ensure efficient resource logistics and support employees in organizing production to meet the production plan and standards.
  • Daily plan the shift and distribute the workload to meet priorities and objectives.
  • Manage overtime, delays, absences, and performance related to the work team.
  • Maintain a favorable work environment for employee well-being and represent the company during disagreements.
  • Ensure employee safety, investigate accidents and incidents during the shift, and ensure compliance with current regulations.
  • Conduct regular floor tours to proactively manage productivity, quality, health and safety, and priorities.
  • Conduct daily transition review to ensure follow-up on current and upcoming operations.
  • Participate in the daily production review.
  • Lead weekly employee reviews.
  • Respect the production process prescribed in the “GQ60 – Maîtrise opérationnelle” and ensure follow-up in case of process failure through derogations and requests.
  • Have a constant concern for continuous improvement and play an active role in implementing and maintaining improvements.
  • Ensure that identified critical control points (CCP) are respected and ensure correction of any anomaly.
  • Rigorously supervise potential product contamination risks.
  • Perform any other related task that may help the department function properly.
  • Take actions to correct deviations and reduce NVA.
  • Complete various production reports and forms relevant to the function.
  • Participate in the implementation, improvement, and maintenance of ISO, C-TPAT, HACCP/SQF, and IMS procedures.
