About The Position

Responsible for leading and developing people, processes and systems that ensure the highest safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency standards are achieved by applying Lean Manufacturing principles and tools. The role focuses on ensuring a safe and incident-free workforce, fostering a continuous improvement culture, establishing standard work, meeting customer schedules and quality requirements, and achieving budget and productivity goals.

Requirements

  • Ability to facilitate team problem solving, and communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge across all machining operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, summarize, and maintain information.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan/organize/prioritize work for self/others.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain effective interpersonal relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to a team effort.
  • Ability to find, analyze, and solve problems.
  • Ability to make/implement effective decisions.
  • Proficiency in math, blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing
  • Ability to effectively read, write and verbally communicate in English
  • High school plus college level courses or equivalent training in manufacturing, machining, or equivalent required.
  • Three to five years’ leadership experience in related aerospace production operations.
  • Must have worked with shop metrics, efficiency, productivity, utilization, and continuous improvement projects
  • Must be able to accurately forecast labor needs based on current work loads

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Science degree preferred.
  • Experienced Journey Machinist preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Applies Lean Manufacturing principles and tools to improve all aspects of safety, quality, service and cost.
  • Drives innovation and change by communicating on key business initiatives and promoting employee engagement and involvement.
  • Establishes routine work practices and audits to ensure continuous improvement to 5S level.
  • Ensures Standard Work is established and maintained for all processes.
  • Develops, trains and involves employees in maintaining and improving safety, efficiency, productivity, quality, cooperation and morale.
  • Ensures employees are trained to do their work and their training is documented. Executes cross-training and personal development strategies for direct reports.
  • Models Workplace Expectations and coaches employees to meet the same level of expectations in a respectful and thoughtful manner.
  • Actively promotes and supports a safe work environment and ensures all employees work in a safe manner.
  • Ensures all employees are properly trained in all safety procedures.
  • Conducts accident investigation/root cause analysis for all incidents and accidents.
  • Meets quality objectives by ensuring compliance to quality systems.
  • Investigates root cause(s) of non-conformances, identifies and executes corrective actions by expected completion date(s).
  • Plans, organizes and supervises all shift operations in accordance with production schedules. Maintains status of production, redeploys resources as required. Sets and communicates expectations for daily production.
  • Works closely with cross-functional groups to develop continuous improvement plans (i.e. engineering, programming, maintenance and quality) in order to achieve plant and work cell objectives.
  • Ensures that throughput goals are attained and budget criteria is met or surpassed.
