About The Position

Valmet is looking for a Production Supervisor capable of overseeing a mechanical roll repair shop, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of customer roll repair and maintaining a high level of quality initiative provided through the material and manufacturing process according to the customer’s needs. This role involves leading and supporting second-shift employees in the daily repair of mechanical rolls, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to established procedures and quality requirements. The supervisor will monitor production flow, priorities, and turnaround times, provide hands-on guidance and coaching to a less experienced workforce, identify and address quality issues, and coordinate with first-shift supervision for smooth transitions. The position also requires ensuring proper documentation, inspections, and work instructions are followed, supporting troubleshooting, and promoting accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ Degree – Engineering (Processor or Chemical in the Pulp & Paper Industry) or a minimum of 5 years’ experience with paper machine rolls and their applications.
  • Knowledge of machine tool and fabricating operations with a good mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Offer of employment is contingent upon a background check and drug screen.

  • Identify and address quality issues early and escalate concerns when needed.
  • Coordinate with first-shift supervision and management for smooth shift transitions.
  • Ensure proper documentation, inspections, and work instructions are followed.
  • Support troubleshooting and problem-solving on the shop floor.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the department.
