About The Position

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production operations, ensuring adherence to schedules, quality, and safety standards. This role involves managing a team, optimizing processes, and maintaining inventory levels to meet production objectives. The supervisor will also be involved in continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.

  • Continuous process / production process improvement knowledge.
  • ERP / MRP knowledge and troubleshooting.
  • OEE experience.
  • Familiar with manufacturing equipment including packaging.
  • Experience supervising Spanish speaking workforce (18 to 24).
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Production Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Identifies solutions to positively improve working conditions and direct/motivate workforce.
  • Provides and maintains necessary materials, tools & inventory levels for required objectives and work tasks.
  • Enforces guidelines for quality and safety.
  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines ensuring food safety.
  • Responsible for production schedules, labor utilization and the estimation of worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Makes recommendations for continuous improvements.
  • Supervises staff of 18 to 24.
  • Ensures monthly training is executed according to plan.
  • Provides and verifies employees are using the right safety tools (PPE) and equipment.
  • Leads by example, prioritizing safety and ensuring employee ownership.
  • Reports any injuries, conducts investigations (root cause analysis) and develops action plans in conjunction with management to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Responsible for following and enforcing safety (OSHA) regulations and procedures.
  • Responsible for being a resource for all SQF related policy/procedure inquiries.
  • Responsible for reporting any potential food safety issues to Plant Manager and Quality Control Department.
  • Responsible for maintaining master sanitation schedule and sanitation standard operating procedures and ensuring sanitation needs are met.
  • Meets or exceeds Pasteurized Milk Ordinance standards.
  • Trains/retrains staff on policies/procedures that help ensure SQF adherence and promotes correct food safety related behaviors.
  • Maintains time and production records, requisitions, and verifies product specs.
  • Responsible for complying and enforcing all Safe Quality Food (SQF/HACCP) policies/procedures and requirements.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of production department.
  • Plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, recommends improvements in production methods and equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
  • Manages performance, drives accountability and recognition of employees based on job description/classifications and performance metrics (safety, quality, performance, cost).
  • Ensures CBA’s are followed.
  • Verifies and approves schedule hours.
  • Conducts weekly cycle counts of raw materials, packaging materials and finished goods.
  • Orders materials based on production schedule and adjusts in alignment with Plant Management based on availability.
  • Ensures quality specs to avoid write-offs.
  • Manages labor hours and overtime below or equal to target.
  • Ensures pounds per hour per SKU are meeting or exceeding standards.
  • Minimizes waste product, supplies, materials and utilities.
  • Maximizes yield and minimizes giveaway (overweight).
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
