About The Position

The Production Supervisor role is primarily based in Pickering & Orillia, overseeing Manufacturing/Assembly/Value Add Customer Response/Engineering/KPO/Facility Management. This position involves supervising and coordinating assembly operations, developing and implementing production plans for new and improved products, and requires broad knowledge of company policies and manufacturing operations. The role demands initiative in achieving objectives, exposure to confidential information, and regular contact with internal and external stakeholders. A key aspect of the role is evaluating wastes in the business and assembly process.

Requirements

  • College school graduate or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary courses or experience in warehousing, shipping, and receiving.
  • Valid Driver’s license required - 20 to 40% travel required.
  • Minimum five years related experience.
  • 3+ years of assembly line experience (required).
  • Knowledge and expertise in machine operation.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and best practices.
  • Proficiency in relevant systems and software.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff and activities of all Canadian assembly operations, including service poles, power bars, IMPLO, fittings product.
  • Ensure timely fulfillment of orders.
  • Oversee efficient and cost-effective assembly of service poles, power bars, IMPLO, fittings assemblies.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO requirements.
  • Maintain the safety of personnel and adherence to all internal and external safety regulations.
  • Responsible for ensuring safety rules are followed, safety programs are maintained and equipment is safe.
  • Develop and implement assembly productivity improvements and component cost reductions.
  • Maintain assembly equipment and tooling.
  • Develop and implement equipment and tooling that will efficiently assemble new and improved Canadian products.
  • Work with Engineering and Quality Manager, Product Development Engineer, to develop and implement the introduction of new products, improve existing products and resolve non-conformance issues.
  • Requisition operating supplies as necessary to assemble orders and ensure production equipment is maintained to an efficient level of operation.
  • Expedite projects through efficient assignment of manpower and equipment.
  • Supervise activities and provide direct leadership to bargaining unit employees.
  • Supervise Engineering group and their efforts to provide technical evaluation and estimation, documentation management and service.
  • Review opportunities to reduce labor and component costs without impacting quality.
  • Utilize lean methodologies including kaizen events to drive continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Develop a lean culture through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Enhance and promote a stream-lined process to enhance customer experience.
  • Ensure the smooth flow of goods by resolving part number logic problems, warranty and quality issues, aid in the identification of unidentified material, issuing of rework orders, vendor returns, managing part number changes, part number substitutions, phasing out of excess and obsolete stock.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
