About The Position

John F. Martin & Sons, LLC, a third-generation, family-owned and family-friendly manufacturer and distributor of quality meat and cheese products, is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor. This position is responsible for overseeing production activities, ensuring the day-to-day production process runs efficiently, and that staff meets production goals. The supervisor will also supply the team and assist in covering for absent team members on the line. The role requires problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a focus on quality. Any mechanical or productivity issues must be reported to management immediately. Requirements

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and deal with problems.
  • Ability to train employees in a fast-paced refrigerated environment.
  • Ability to print labels, operate machinery, and plan staff scheduling rotation/tasks.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time (8 to 12 hours).
  • Must be able to push/pull levered weight carts that weigh between 25 to 1,500 lbs. with a pallet jack and/or electric jack if certified.
  • Must have a proper sense of urgency to meet production guidelines.
  • Must be safety oriented.
  • Must be multi-tasked.
  • Must have good powers of observation to spot problems with production.
  • Must have the ability to maintain concentration for repetitive tasks.
  • Must have accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must have good team working skills.
  • Ability to work alone and be flexible to rotation schedules.
  • Must understand health, safety, and basic hygiene rules.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee production activities and the day-to-day production process.
  • Ensure the production line runs efficiently and staff meets production goals.
  • Supply for the team and assist in covering for team members on the line.
  • Identify and solve production problems.
  • Report plant machinery breakdowns to maintenance technicians and supervisors.
  • Engage and motivate production team members.
  • Monitor quality control and productivity standards.
  • Identify inconsistencies in slice thickness, weights, bacon quality, firmness, or tempering.
  • Assist machine operators in setting up supplies in the packer and on the slicer.
  • Verify that the proper date and program are loaded into the packer and slicer.
  • Maintain proper giveaway control and high-quality standards.
  • Reinforce policies and procedures with employees and issue accountability when required.
  • Identify and organize training and cross-training needs.
  • Keep all CPQ checks and metal detectors records on time.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and hazard-free work environment.
  • Be flexible to work in various departments and locations.
  • Understand health, safety, and basic hygiene rules.
