About The Position

As a Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for driving customer order execution, according to the agreed plan and in line with four priorities: sustainability, quality, delivery, and cost. This is a first-line management position where you will coordinate between different processes and support functions, and supervise employees engaged in the production process of air-cooled heat exchangers. You will monitor employee performance and coordinate workflow to ensure the shop operates efficiently. This is a second/third shift work position (working evenings), and weekend work will be required on occasion. This position oversees our 2nd/3rd shift production and is located in Tulsa, OK and/or Broken Arrow, OK.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Minimum of 3 years leading multiple employees in an industrial products manufacturing environment is mandatory.
  • Strong Skills in time management, attention to details, written & verbal communications.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite – i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, Associate’s degree and/or manufacturing certifications preferred, or a related field.
  • Detailed knowledge of the production of air cooled and wet surface heat exchangers used in the North American oil, gas and power industries preferred.
  • Experience with systems & methodologies used in manufacturing to include 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen preferred.
  • Knowledge & understanding of financial planning and development.
  • Project work & implementation of business plans experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set and follow up targets for Manufacturing in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost.
  • Review production schedules with the Factory Planner and Project Managers and coordinate production set-up with Team Leaders.
  • Meet shop goals and customer expectations.
  • Operate as a team within the shop and other areas related to production (materials, scheduling, purchasing, etc.) to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Responsible for the continuous improvement, leading 5S initiatives, performance and output of multiple manufacturing teams.
  • Oversees team member development and hiring, ensuring compliance with legal and equal opportunity standards in collaboration with HR.
  • Develop new employee operational training plans specific to the new employee position and experience.
  • Deliver Team Member performance reviews, counseling / discipline, and make recommendations for wage increases.
  • Assure compliance with Alfa Laval requirements including pertinent policies, procedures, work instructions, and other related process control documents.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive the analysis and identification of opportunities for improvement.
  • Set and follow up targets set for the teams, broken down from the factory level.
  • Work with the site EH&S team to ensure compliance with local, state and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Work with Quality Assurance on customer claim resolution and drive process improvements so that future claims are prevented.
  • Define and communicate work assignments to shop personnel.
  • Monitor progress of work and address issues as needed (e.g., re-allocation of resources, alternate sequencing of jobs, resolution of operational/technical issues, etc.).
  • Assess and communicate staffing, equipment, and outsourcing needs of the teams.
  • Monitor and take action to eliminate waste and drive down manufacturing costs.
  • Assure effective and efficient utilization of personnel and equipment (e.g., Reduction of set-up and cycle times, etc.).
  • Be the ‘owner’ of team equipment including correct usage, and preventative maintenance.
  • Work with the Maintenance department to ensure clear division of activities between operator maintenance and maintenance department preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Drive team performance through prioritization and hands-on development of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Engage with Safety, Quality, Product, and Factory management to ensure these functional area requirements are included in departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Secure the quality, via SOP audit dialogues, and execution of the SOPs.
  • Give input to the development of the annual shop budget.
  • Control team expenses in order to meet approved budget.
  • Responsible for team area cleanliness and implementation of cleaning routines, 5S and holding team members accountable to this category.
  • Involved in new product development and give input to existing product development.
  • Interface with Sales Engineering, Purchasing, Scheduling and other members of the Production team relative to planning and scheduling of work orders and cost estimation of product.
  • Ensure effective and frequent communication with shop personnel related to company and departmental developments.
  • Conduct daily ALPS board meetings (Alfa Laval Performance System) to ensure employee management communications and continuous improvements.
  • Ensure positive work environment and attitude among shop employees; foster an attitude of responsibility and ownership.
  • Assist Unit Manager with other tasks as needed.
  • Prioritize safety, including strict adherence to company-wide safety policies and procedures, proactive promotion of safe practices, and addressing unsafe behaviors or conditions in a constructive and positive manner.
  • Conduct oneself with professionalism, courtesy, and cooperation toward colleagues, customers, vendors, and visitors.
  • Maintain full compliance with all Alfa Laval policies and procedures.
