About The Position

This role provides leadership and training to production employees, focusing on safety, quality, production, packaging, and maintenance objectives. The Production Supervisor coordinates with other departments to meet production goals efficiently and cost-effectively, ensuring adequate coverage for operational needs. They establish and monitor shift performance against key metrics, accurately entering production data to track KPIs. This position also involves updating communication boards, leading employee meetings, and collaborating with teams to enhance efficiencies and reduce costs related to overtime, downtime, and repairs. A key aspect of the role is promoting shop floor organization and lean practices like 5S. The supervisor acts as the primary contact for operators facing mechanical or production issues, directing maintenance efforts and potentially managing tool inventory. Additionally, they are responsible for reviewing and submitting employee work hours for payroll.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or operations management
  • 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to work multiple shifts

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and training to employees for Safety, Quality, Production, Packaging, and Maintenance.
  • Coordinates production activities with other departments to ensure production goals are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensures vacancies are covered for planned/unplanned absences.
  • Establishes and monitors shift performance for safety, quality, and production standards.
  • Enters production data accurately into the system to measure and monitor KPIs.
  • Updates communication boards to keep production floor team members informed.
  • Leads employee start-up meetings.
  • Works with teams to control and improve efficiencies, minimize labor overtime, downtime, and repair expenses.
  • Implements cost-effective systems as necessary.
  • Promotes shop floor organization and plant housekeeping using lean techniques like 5S.
  • Acts as the first point of contact for operators regarding mechanical failure or production issues.
  • Directs maintenance employees to troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Conducts tool store inventory reviews to ensure proper tools and parts are available.
  • Prepares and reviews employees' worked hours for submission to payroll.
