About The Position

This role is a People Leader for Design and Release Engineers in the FNA and FoM regions, responsible for the high-quality delivery of Roof & Back lite glass systems to GPDS milestones. The position requires an absolute focus on delivering robust designs and failure mode avoidance through engineering disciplines such as DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, PDP, and ES specifications. Key responsibilities include driving focused TVM, warranty reduction, and benchmarking, while proactively leading teams and providing overall design leadership to meet vehicle attributes like package, crash, and durability. The role involves leading, reviewing, and approving Moonroof, soft tops, and backline glass to ensure compliance with component Engineering Specifications and vehicle requirements, as well as resolving all identified durability, assembly, and functional issues. The position also requires proactive business management, including agenda and issue management communication with immediate leadership, and coaching, technical mentoring, and guiding engineers and rotating FCGs within the section.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
  • 7 years of PD Engineering experience, within structural commodities, including GPDS forward model programs and launch.
  • Thorough understanding of Rood Systems component designs, experience with interfacing systems (Glass, Sealing, BIW Body structure), and material and joining knowledge.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and high technical aptitude with a demonstrated history in successfully leading cross functional teams.
  • Natural ability to build productive relationships, achieve cooperation, and influence priorities of technical experts and other key partners.
  • Ability to manage/resolve urgent production quality and launch concerns.
  • Strong skills in project planning and management - experience in managing large complex projects.
  • Strong oral/written communication skills to lead group projects, issue resolution, and management reviews.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering disciplines for failure mode avoidance (FMA).
  • Strong leadership skills, passion for quality, passion for customer – inherent self-starter with strong drive for results.
  • Position requires simultaneous management of multiple complex and urgent issues.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in engineering disciplines: DVP&R, DFMEA, 8D, Process Controls, Reliability, and System Engineering Fundamentals.
  • Knowledgeable in GPDS: UNVx, TDJ/TDC, DCV, PEC/FEC, and Tool releases/builds.
  • Proficient in WERS, AIMS, AVBOM, BSAQ, GPIRS, DVA, and Digital Tools (CAD).
  • Candidates for positions with Ford Motor Company must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.

  • Proactively run your business to include agenda and issue management communication with immediate leadership.
  • Coach, technical mentor, and guide engineers and rotating FCG's within section.
  • Able to travel and support final assembly plants and supplier sites when required during project delivery.
