The Production Supervisor position is located at the Denver Pepperidge Farm facility and supervises nonexempt associates in a manufacturing environment. The role involves planning and assigning work, implementing policies, and recommending improvements in production methods, processes, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions. The supervisor directs all phases of production activities for the Bakery Department and the work activities of hourly associates for the Third (Night Owl) shift, focusing on Safety, Associate Relations, Associate Engagement, Quality, Productivity, Cost Improvement, and Performance Measurement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years' experience working in a manufacturing facility, preferably in food and bakery
  • 1 year people management experience

Responsibilities

  • Improve working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, and cost) and increase associates' skills and capabilities.
  • Develop direct reports by providing guidance, coaching, and assignments/projects that result in high employee engagement, high performing teams, and a high performing organization.
  • Coordinate on-the-job training for new hires and transferred associates.
  • Conduct training in new procedures and OSHA-mandated compliance programs.
  • Use continuous improvement to improve production methods, yield, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Support all plant safety, quality, 5S, SAP, and continuous improvement initiatives, including actively participating in all audits and team concepts.
  • Assist Product Manager and other Supervisors in improving systems of production control, standard operating procedure, safety, quality control, performance management, and coordination with other departments.
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results.
  • Work to continuously improve in all areas.
  • Ensure timely completion of documentation, reviews, and incident reports.
  • Interpret specifications and job orders to workers, and assign duties.
  • Establish, and where necessary, adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls, and provide regular progress reports to manager.
  • Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and direct setup and adjustments of machines.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Plan and coordinate work, train and motivate, monitor and evaluate performance of associates; ensure their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations; counsel, record, and discipline as necessary.
  • Develop associates to effectively oversee the daily routines of their assigned duties.
  • Review production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Assume responsibility for the Quality System requirements defined in 4.1.2.1 of the Pepperidge Farm, Inc. – Denver Plant Quality Procedures Manual.
  • Identify opportunities and lead Kaizen events to improve safety, quality, productivity, and reliability.
  • Interpret and enforce Company policies and procedures; hold employees fully accountable for complying with these standards.
  • Resolve employee issues, questions, and complaints; maintain a positive employee relations environment.
  • Track absenteeism and time-keeping.
  • Maintain downtime and production records.
  • Provide operational support for Corporate driven initiatives, product launches, and experimental line trials.
  • Ensure effective associate relations.
  • Provide associate coaching and development.
  • Make employment decisions.
  • Resolve associate issues through problem resolution.
