About The Position

Reporting to the Department Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for managing and controlling all of Hood Packaging's day-to-day production operations for the shift (A, B, C, or D). The incumbent of this position must ensure the execution of the daily production plan sent to him or her in the safest manner, on time and using all the resources required. He or she will be the main point of contact for his or her team for any issues related to the day-to-day activities on the production floor.

Requirements

  • Must be the main point of contact for the team for day-to-day issues.
  • Must ensure employees practice safe behaviors.
  • Must ensure policies and instructions are strictly followed by unionized employees.
  • Must ensure health and safety training is provided.
  • Must train employees in safe work procedures and enforce safety rules.
  • Must ensure health and safety deficiencies are identified, communicated, and followed up on.
  • Must report all incidents and near-misses to management.
  • Must participate in investigations following a near miss.
  • Must conduct daily safety audits and inspections.
  • Must be a key player in developing OHS culture.
  • Must lead and participate in Gemba Walks for OSH.
  • Must plan daily production activities to execute work orders.
  • Must analyze performance indicators (KPIs) daily and act to maintain/improve them.
  • Must use all reports related to department functions.
  • Must provide additional information to reports to assist managers.
  • Must communicate, manage, and control productivity to meet objectives.
  • Must organize the presence of consumables and tools.
  • Must monitor quality controls to ensure products meet customer requirements.
  • Must ensure understanding and appreciation of teamwork for quality goals.
  • Must actively participate in quality meetings and corrective actions.
  • Must control and monitor losses (material or time).
  • Must take corrective action to eliminate excess scrap.
  • Must ensure a good working atmosphere free of violence and harassment.
  • Must participate in employee training management (task, onboarding, etc.).
  • Must be responsible for training and evaluation of new recruits and existing staff.
  • Must act as a facilitator for conflicts or employee issues.
  • Must participate in quarterly employee meetings.
  • Must be an active member of the Labor Relations Committee and Health and Safety Committee.
  • Must establish and maintain trust and excellent communication with local managers.
  • Must ensure a communication link between unionized employees and management.
  • Must manage team's vacation schedule according to the collective agreement.
  • Must assign personnel to machinery/equipment according to production schedule and collective agreement.
  • Must maintain accurate records and reports of attendance, discipline, and vacation.
  • Must comply with and maintain SQF and HACCP standards.
  • Must support the organization in maintaining SQF structure and FDA certification.
  • Must participate in conferences, training, or other activities to increase knowledge and skills.
  • Must perform other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a leader in occupational health and safety by ensuring that employees always practice safe behaviors.
  • Ensure that policies and instructions are strictly followed by all unionized employees.
  • Ensure that health and safety training is provided to all employees under their responsibility.
  • Train employees in safe work procedures and enforce safety rules.
  • Ensure that health and safety deficiencies are properly identified, communicated and that follow-ups are carried out according to an acceptable schedule and management standards.
  • Report all incidents and near-misses to management as soon as possible.
  • Participate in the investigation following a near miss as soon as possible.
  • Conduct daily safety audits and inspections.
  • Be a key player in the development of the OHS culture within Glopak.
  • Lead and participate in the Gemba Walk for OSH.

  • Ensure that there is a clear understanding and appreciation of teamwork to achieve the company's quality goals.
  • Actively participate in quality meetings and corrective actions taken to prevent recurring quality problems.
  • Control and monitor losses, whether material or time.
  • Take corrective action to eliminate all excess scrap in operations.
  • To ensure a good working atmosphere free of violence and harassment of any kind.
  • Participate in the management of employee training including task training, onboarding training, etc.
  • Be responsible for the training and evaluation of new recruits and existing staff who acquire new positions.
  • Act as a facilitator in the event of conflicts between employees or any issues affecting employees.
