About The Position

The Production Supervisor will oversee and manage production shift employees and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and quantity standards. This role requires a complete understanding of all department equipment and processes. The supervisor is responsible for overseeing production personnel, including training, performance, guidance, and improvement, and contributing to decisions regarding hiring, discharge, transfer, and promotions. They will also identify talent and assist in building the talent pipeline, participate in planning and implementation of department goals, and identify and document personnel achievements for reviews. The Production Supervisor ensures the daily production schedule is met, regulates workflow to maximize capacity, and assists with containment and screening of contaminated products. They submit suggestions for production efficiencies, assist the Production Manager with daily production projects, and aid in physical counts. Updates to rail/silo boards after material usage are also a responsibility. The role involves maintaining a safe and clean work environment, performing the duties of the Production Lead, and assisting the Quality Coordinator with corrective actions and updating controlled documents. Supervision of material allocation and distribution, maintenance of daily production reports, and packaging usage reports are key. The supervisor also assists the production manager with control of overtime, vacation requests, and absenteeism coverage, and monitors supply usage. The role requires the ability to meet all essential functions of Production Operator I, II, III and Production Lead positions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Intermediate level experience with Windows based applications to include Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel.
  • Intermediate level experience with Warehouse Management inventory systems and RF scanners.
  • Must be able to handle responsibility for the packaging of goods at specified quantity and quality at minimum cost and according to schedule.
  • Strong knowledge of production management processes and systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of warehouse management, inventory management, product flow and productivity standards.
  • Must possess outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have strong leadership and people skills and should be results oriented with solid communication skills.
  • Ability to work with the Quality Department to effect change and implement revisions.
  • Must be able to lift 55 lbs. repeatedly.
  • Must have color vision.
  • Have use of fingers and hands for writing and typing.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending on the seasons.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Extensive relevant experience may be substituted for education requirement.
  • Forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Training new employees and cross-training of existing employees on production processes.
  • Recording and documenting employees’ training progress.
  • Overseeing the production personnel, including training, performance, guidance, and improvement.
  • Contributing to decisions in hiring, discharge, transfer, and promotions.
  • Identifying talent and assisting with building the talent pipeline.
  • Participating in planning and implementation of department goals and objectives.
  • Identifying and documenting personnel achievements to assist the manager in quarterly/annual reviews.
  • Ensuring daily production schedule is met.
  • Regulating workflow in accordance with the shift objectives to ensure maximum use of capacity and requirements.
  • Assisting with the containment and screening of contaminated products.
  • Submitting suggestions for production efficiencies.
  • Assisting the Production Manager with the planning and execution of the daily production projects.
  • Assisting Management in any physical counts during the year.
  • Updating rail/silo boards after material usage.
  • Overseeing production to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Performing the duties of the Production Lead.
  • Assisting the Quality Coordinator with the completion of corrective actions.
  • Assisting the Quality Coordinator with the update of controlled documents to ensure they reflect the current processes.
  • Supervising the allocation and distribution of materials for the production department.
  • Updating and maintaining daily production report.
  • Maintaining and updating packaging usage reports to reflect precise, accurate counts of the packaging material levels.
  • Assisting the production manager with control of overtime hours, vacation request and absenteeism coverage.
  • Monitoring the usage of supplies and communicating with the appropriate department when supplies are needed.
  • Performing other duties as required (supervisor must be able to meet all essential functions of the Production Operator I,II,III position and Production Lead).
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.
