About The Position

PPG's Aerospace Business is looking for an experienced Production Supervisor to join our team in Grand Prairie, TX! As a Production Supervisor, you will coordinate the production processes and lead any troubleshooting, scheduling, and supply chain activities across cell areas. You will be an integral part of the operation and have extensive interaction with production staff and key leadership members of the plant. The ideal candidate will be a strong people-leader with a safety and quality-focused mindset and experience solving complex problems and implementing new processes. This is a day shift, onsite position at our Grand Prairie, TX. facility. You will report to the Plant 1 Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • Only U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, and political asylees or refugees are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must have or be eligible to obtain secret clearance.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 5+ years of manufacturing supervision experience required.
  • Knowledge of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems.
  • Experience in manufacturing processes, including lean manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality systems (AS9100) and military specifications.
  • Understanding of airworthiness requirements and military aerospace standards.
  • Experience monitoring, tracking, and continually improving the total cost equation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in Aerospace manufacturing preferred.
  • May need to work some Saturdays, minor variation in the schedule(s), and additional hours as needed.
  • Experience with complex transparency or optical systems, fighter aircraft components, or defense contracting preferred.
  • Knowledge of advanced coatings systems and aerospace transparencies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve all production objectives through accurate planning to meet production schedules and deliver high-quality products that meet specifications and PPG's standards.
  • Supervise the shift production teams and ensures that each team member adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Review work instructions to ensure shop floor operators have accurate and complete instructions and, if necessary, recommend changes.
  • Identify and address problems related to production process/flow and provide production reports to assist process improvement.
  • Coordinate work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequences to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Help set daily/weekly goals with the scheduling team and communicate any/all blockers.
  • Coordinate and communicate requirements with Procurement to ensure that materials are purchased or expedited in the appropriate quantities and timeframe to meet production needs.
  • Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning staffing; accomplish work results; establish priorities; supervise progress; revise schedules; resolve problems; report results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Perform root cause analysis and the implementation of corresponding corrective action plans.
  • Coordinate with engineering and other departments to minimize production interruptions.
