About The Position

The production supervisor position is responsible for supervising shop employees in a manufacturing environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures; and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

Requirements

  • Design – effective knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Mechanical – effective knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

  • Available to work overtime, weekends, and changing shifts, as needed

  • Ability to work up to 12 hours per day.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, crouch, lean, reach, twist, and other physical movements for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to wear prescribed personal protective equipment and appropriate clothing.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to read, write, type, and verbally communicate fluently in English.
  • Must be able to effectively use a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and commonly used software to complete necessary functions assigned.
  • Must have finger dexterity, visual acuity, discernment of sounds, color, and texture.
  • Must be able to use tools, equipment, machinery, etc.
  • Must have the physical and mental ability to drive a standard forklift successfully. AWIP will certify.

Nice To Haves

  • BA or BS degree preferred or equivalent preferred, with two plus years of experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of industry related experience or training.
  • Must maintain appropriate forklift certification
  • At least three years managing teams. Good leadership abilities; experience supervising, coaching, and disciplining employees.
  • Strong knowledge of plant operations and Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing principles; focused on delivering results.
  • Proven ability to manage, coach, and develop employees.
  • Ability to interface with regulatory agencies.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and other general software programs.

Responsibilities

  • Be the safety leader on the production floor; promote an active safety culture; stringently enforce all safety policies and procedures; and correct all safety infractions immediately.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Shipping Department to set the production schedule inclusive of changeovers, embossing, rework, or miscellaneous projects as assigned.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Ensure effective employee relations. Provide employee coaching and development. Makes employment recommendations to the Plant Manager. Resolve employee issues through problem resolution.
  • Accomplish manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations: planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling and disciplining employees.
  • Balance safety, quality, productivity, cost and morale to achieve positive results in all responsible areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas.
  • Manage departmental performance measures to include employee training and provide regular progress reports to the Production and/or Plant Managers.
  • Work with Quality Control to ensure only products that meet the AWIP quality standards and Product Compliance policy leave the plant. Enforce operator quality checks are performed correctly to SOP’s, timely and documented completely.
  • Perform initial accident investigations.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels.
  • Monitor absenteeism and tardiness.
  • Comply with all safety and company policies and procedures, and be the example for subordinates to follow.
