About The Position

We are seeking a Production Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of the Sonny V2 production line. This role involves directly supervising assembly and test technicians to ensure the delivery of high-quality robots and the assembly of spare-parts kits for the deployed fleet. The position reports to the Head of Manufacturing and Supply Chain. You will be instrumental in the ramp-up of Sonny, starting in Q2 2027. As an early member of the team, you will work closely with Hardware and Production Engineering through prototype and pre-production builds, becoming the Sonny product expert within the manufacturing organization. Your responsibilities will include transforming prototype builds into repeatable procedures and scaling the team from contract technicians to a full production cell. This is a hands-on, floor-first role, requiring significant time on the production line.

Requirements

5+ years leading technicians in a production or manufacturing environment as a lead or supervisor, including scheduling, training, and performance feedback.
Hands-on experience with production planning: translating a build schedule into daily work, tracking materials readiness, and hitting a delivery commitment.
Experience bringing up a new product or line, not just running a mature one.
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, and root-cause problem solving, applied on a real floor.
Experience with an MES/ERP for work orders, traceability, and inventory.
Strong electromechanical assembly and test skills — ability to read a drawing, a BOM, and a test log, and understanding of good workmanship.
Clear, direct communicator who can report status upward and set expectations with the team.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
Experience in Robotics, automation, medical device, aerospace, or other low-volume, high-complexity electromechanical assembly.
Experience working with Engineering on prototype or pilot builds ahead of production release.
Experience building spare-parts or service kits for a deployed fleet.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
Experience running a line through frequent engineering changes / New Product Introduction (NPI).

Responsibilities

Become the Sonny product expert by working directly with Hardware and Production Engineering through prototype and pre-production runs, building units hands-on and learning the robot end to end.
Learn every subassembly, harness, test step, and known failure mode to train and troubleshoot without Engineering support.
Capture build notes, defect logs, and manufacturability feedback to shape the production-ready design and process.
Serve as the first point of contact on the floor for any Sonny build or test questions.
Lead the team on the floor by supervising, training, and developing assembly and test technicians.
Manage the daily rhythm of the line, including standups, build targets, escalations, and end-of-shift handoffs.
Uphold standards for safety, quality, and workmanship, and coach technicians accordingly.
Handle scheduling, timekeeping, performance feedback, and cross-training to ensure operational continuity.
Participate in hiring and onboarding as the team grows.
Execute the build plan by translating monthly plans into daily and weekly work assignments and keeping the line on schedule.
Track clear-to-build status and escalate material, tooling, or capacity gaps.
Manage Work-In-Progress (WIP) and line balance to ensure smooth unit progression through assembly, bring-up, and test.
Report daily output, First Pass Yield, and on-time status, and drive corrective actions.
Build Field Replaceable Units (FRUs) and spare-parts kits alongside production units.
Maintain FRU build cadences, inventory targets, and packaging/labeling standards in coordination with Supply Chain and Maintenance.
Develop, validate, and lock work instructions, test procedures, fixtures, and error-proofing for the Sonny V2 process in collaboration with Production Engineering.
Absorb design and Bill of Materials (BOM) changes during monthly cutover cadences without disrupting the line.
Drive continuous improvement by flagging recurring defects, eliminating waste, and reducing build hours per unit.
Ensure unit traceability in ION (MES) from kitting through final acceptance.
Collaborate with Supply Chain on kitting, shortages, and Non-Conformance Material Report (NCMR) dispositions.
Partner with Production Engineering on process bring-up, tooling, test coverage, and change control.
Coordinate with Deployment on ship dates, configuration, packaging, and customer needs.
Liaise with Hardware Engineering on manufacturability feedback for future revisions.
