About The Position

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and supervision of production and maintenance activities at the Johnstown plant. This role ensures effective management and continuous improvement across all aspects of manufacturing, including safety culture, quality systems, schedule adherence, workforce management, and operational efficiency. The Production Supervisor is accountable for meeting plant objectives in safety, quality, delivery, and cost, while developing team members and supporting operational excellence.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2–4 year technical degree preferred, or equivalent supervisory experience in manufacturing.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supervising or leading production teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using Kronos or similar workforce management systems.
  • Familiarity with Epicor, SAP, or other MRP systems.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including: Raw material flow Production work cells Project planning
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of process improvement and corrective action methodologies.
  • Basic project and job order management experience.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop production teams.
  • Ability to balance priorities across safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Experience with stamping press operations or sheet metal manufacturing.

  • Technical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, DMAIC, Kaizen, and structured problem-solving methods.
  • Experience implementing continuous improvement and productivity initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of product tagging, identification, and traceability systems.
  • Experience coordinating large manufacturing teams (up to 50 employees).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain strong safety awareness through active employee engagement and positive reinforcement.
  • Drive 5S and housekeeping initiatives to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensure timely reporting of near misses, first aid incidents, and safety observations.
  • Lead monthly team safety activities including: Behavior-based safety observations Safety meetings Nearly miss reporting Safe work permits Pre-shift safety inspections Departmental inspections
  • Train and coach employees on safe operating procedures and behaviors.
  • Conduct safety incident investigations and perform root cause analysis to drive permanent solutions.
  • Reinforce the company’s commitment that all accidents are preventable and safety is everyone’s responsibility.
  • Ensure products meet required technical specifications and quality standards.
  • Audit quality systems to verify compliance with established procedures.
  • Partner with the Quality team to communicate customer feedback and implement corrective actions.
  • Co-manage the Non-Conforming Report (NCR) process.
  • Perform root cause analysis on quality issues and implement corrective solutions.
  • Train operators on problem-solving and quality improvement techniques.
  • Participate in plant visits and cross-site collaboration to improve processes.
  • Build a positive, transparent, and high-performing work culture.
  • Recognize and reward strong team performance.
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and guidance to employees.
  • Enforce company policies and operational procedures.
  • Manage performance issues through documentation, coaching, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Review and adjust employee training plans based on operational needs.

  • Supervise day-to-day manufacturing operations at the Johnstown facility.
  • Manage performance of production employees through coaching and hands-on leadership.
  • Coordinate daily production schedules and workflow with plant leadership.
  • Utilize Kronos workforce management systems to manage scheduling and time allocation.
  • Plan work orders and coordinate materials and job preparation.
  • Ensure work is completed according to job plan standards and production schedules.
  • Identify equipment requirements and necessary safety precautions.
  • Recommend improvements that increase operational efficiency and product quality.
  • Implement Lean manufacturing principles and productivity initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain standard work processes.
  • Reduce variation and eliminate waste from operations.
  • Engage employees in productivity and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure resources including labor, materials, and time are used effectively to meet production goals.
  • Supervise night shift operations (10:45 PM – 7:00 AM) with schedule flexibility based on customer demand.
  • Manage up to 50 hourly production associates and allocate labor across work cells as needed.
  • Responsibilities include hiring, training, performance management, coaching, discipline, and employee development.
