About The Position

Under the direction of the Area Manager, the Production Supervisor II is responsible for the development of bargained direct reports to ensure sustainable and safe production of company products at the highest quality and lowest possible cost, meeting company performance standards and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 or more years of manufacturing and supervisory experience
  • Experience in leading and implementing lean manufacturing processes and tools such as; one piece flow, 5S, standardized work, Kanban, value stream mapping, A3, 8D, and kaizen events.
  • Proficient with OSHA and industrial compliance standards
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, time keeping, and MRP software
  • Ability to read and write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other employees of the organization
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and ability to articulate blueprint requirements to others
  • Aptitude to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exist

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to production planning/scheduling, level loading, minimum on hand knowledge, or similar desirable
  • Experience leading and building relationships within a bargained (union) workforce
  • Ability to prioritize planning/scheduling of production orders in regards to stock levels, capabilities, headcount, and capacity
  • CPIM certification
  • First responder training or certification
  • Experience with welding, press brakes, lasers, refrigeration, foaming, and/or assembly

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain development, training, and cross training plans for all associates
  • Manage associate performance and provide merit-based career pathing opportunities for associates
  • Prioritize, schedule, delegate work assignments, and directly supervise the manufacturing functions to meet production requirements
  • Ensure compliance with Company and departmental safety standards along with all work rules and regulations.
  • Utilize production Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory metrics to make fact-based decisions and identify and drive improvements to better meet customer requirements
  • Ensure adherence to manufacturing procedures and requirements, and develop standard work to sustain critical to process and critical to quality processes
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures and plan the repair of machines and equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement departmental policies and procedures, processes, and methods.
  • Learn and become technical resource to assist in troubleshooting of critical processes
  • Maintain departmental supplies, tools, equipment, and order as necessary.
  • Ensure the completion and accuracy of all required production systems and data entry, paperwork, records, documentation, time and attendance, quality records, etc.
  • Act as an ambassador to support and communicate company mission, vision, values, and initiatives and provide effective 2-way communication
  • Participate and take ownership of elements of operations strategic initiatives
  • Responsibility to oversee and drive improvement to portions of Operations Budget (P&L)
  • Works with cross functional associates to ensure accurate and timely delivery to the customer.
  • Works with Materials, Engineering, Customer Service and Quality on a regular basis.
  • Reports directly to the Area Manager.
  • Responsible for a team of non-exempt manufacturing personnel.
  • Works closing with union representation to improve facility performance and develop long-term collaborative relationships
  • Decisions made by this Supervisor II may directly impact associate safety, customer satisfaction, productivity and costs goals of the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.
