About The Position

The PRD Specialist is responsible for supporting the preparation, review, control, and release of production documentation required to build printed circuit board assemblies in a high-reliability manufacturing environment. This role works closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Materials, Program Management, and Production Control to ensure work orders are properly documented, accurate, complete, and ready for production. The PRD Specialist plays a key role in ensuring that production builds are launched with the correct documentation, drawings, bills of material, assembly instructions, customer requirements, and revision-controlled records. This position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work in a fast-paced PCBA manufacturing environment supporting SMT, through-hole, test, inspection, conformal coating, rework, and final assembly operations.

Requirements

  • Experience in electronics manufacturing, PCBA assembly, document control, production planning, quality, or manufacturing support preferred.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing documentation such as BOMs, assembly drawings, travelers, routers, work instructions, ECOs, and customer specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, assembly drawings, part lists, and production instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies, missing information, and revision conflicts.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with Engineering, Quality, Materials, Program Management, and Production teams.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and ERP/MRP or production tracking systems.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and follow document control procedures.
  • Knowledge of PCBA manufacturing processes, including SMT, through-hole, inspection, test, conformal coating, and rework, is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing, document control, production support, quality, or related field preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a contract electronics manufacturing or aerospace/defense manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or Class 3 PCBA workmanship standards.
  • Experience supporting NPI, production release, document control, or manufacturing engineering functions.
  • Experience reviewing ECOs, customer drawings, BOM changes, and revision-controlled documentation.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, production travelers, routing systems, or electronic document control systems.
  • Experience working with quality-controlled manufacturing records and customer-specific build requirements.
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in electronics, manufacturing, quality, or documentation control preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Review production documentation packages for completeness and accuracy prior to release to the manufacturing floor.
  • Verify that work orders include the correct revision levels, assembly drawings, bills of material, specifications, work instructions, customer notes, and special requirements.
  • Support document readiness for PCBA builds, including SMT, through-hole, selective solder, hand solder, test, inspection, conformal coating, rework, and final inspection processes.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Program Management, Materials, Quality, and Production teams to resolve missing, unclear, or conflicting documentation.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with customer requirements, internal procedures, and applicable workmanship standards.
  • Review customer drawings, BOMs, ECOs, deviations, assembly notes, and production requirements to identify key build instructions.
  • Assist with creating, updating, formatting, and maintaining production-ready documentation.
  • Support the release and control of travelers, routers, labels, work instructions, and related production records.
  • Verify that required inspection points, test requirements, and quality checkpoints are properly identified in the production documentation.
  • Communicate documentation issues that may impact schedule, quality, or production readiness.
  • Maintain organized records and ensure controlled documents are available to the correct teams at the correct time.
  • Support first article builds, NPI releases, production transfers, and repeat production work order launches.
  • Assist with corrective action activities related to documentation errors, missing instructions, or production release issues.
  • Follow company procedures for document control, revision management, ESD, safety, and quality system compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to production documentation accuracy, work order release, and manufacturing readiness.
