We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Specialist to join our organization at our Hermiston, OR Parent Seed facility. Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED.
  • 2 years of related education and/or experience in agronomy, agriculture, production, manufacturing, etc.
  • Experience with technology – iPads, computers, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to find and implement solutions to problems.
  • Skilled at managing multiple tasks and priorities successfully in fast-paced environments.
  • Good people skills.
  • A valid US driver’s license.
  • Willingness to participate in safe work practices, on-the-job safety, and work safety programs.
  • Enjoy working outdoors in a variety of environments.
  • Willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Willing and able to work a primarily daytime schedule with overtime hours including weekend work during seasonal peaks (April – July and September – November).

Nice To Haves

  • An associate degree or higher, related to agriculture or industrial operations.
  • Previous training on or experience with field inspections.
  • Leadership or coaching experience.
  • Knowledge of field equipment and techniques (irrigation, cutting, wheel-pulling, delays, scouting, etc.).
  • Experience with mapping software (ArcGIS, ProMap).

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of tasks associated with field activities (planting, detasseling, scouting, field maintenance, etc.).
  • Maintain relationships with external partners (growers, contractors, etc.).
  • Perform administrative procedures associated with field activities.
  • Oversee processes while partnering with seasonal workers to ensure quality field operations and activities.
  • Perform harvest activities such as preparation, drying, stabilization.
  • Oversee and assist with shipping and receiving activities, including interplant movement, warehousing, and inventory management of packaged seed.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Plan Work Instructions and Quality Plan requirements.
  • Use automation and computerized systems to perform work tasks (computers, iPads, etc.).
  • Assist with safety program management and related safety activities.
  • Various other duties as assigned.
