About The Position

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Production Supervisor for the Natchitoches Engineered Wood Products manufacturing facility located in Natchitoches, LA. This is a full-time, exempt role and is a front-line supervisor position within the TJI Department. This role is responsible for the safety, production, and quality goals of the team for whom the supervisor plans, leads, and directs the daily activities. This position reports to the TJI Department Manager.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or comparable environment, including experience as a production supervisor, or has completed a professional development or internship program.
  • Intermediate knowledge of production systems.
  • Skill in prioritizing and solving daily production issues for multiple and simultaneous production processes.
  • Experience in basic care maintenance.
  • Work related experience in leading and ensuring compliance with safety initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written, verbal and electronic communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates through coaching, development and instilling a continuous improvement mind-set.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Office and other windows-based programs.
  • Strong work ethic, good judgement, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goals.
  • Working knowledge of business and financial concepts.
  • Hands-on experience working with optimizing systems.
  • Must be detail- and accuracy-oriented.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment wearing PPE.
  • Flexible work schedule as required.
  • A current resume or detailed work history and education is required to be uploaded in order for consideration.

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience in wood products manufacturing.
  • Experience with LEAN processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily leadership and oversight of hourly production employees.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient execution of work.
  • Ensure proper job and safety rules are understood by the team and followed.
  • Role model safe work practices and lead safety and other team meetings.
  • Ensure appropriate incident investigation and follow-up resolution.
  • Project needs and balance labor resources to ensure continuous improvement in safety, quality, and production.
  • Onboard and train new team members.
  • Actively involved in assigning work.
  • Support, coach, and provide timely feedback and direction to associates.
  • Encourage innovation.
  • Implement retention and recognition initiatives.
  • Understand the process flow and provide solutions to issues.
  • Coordinate activities with maintenance team and proactively collaborate to address concerns.
  • Execute implementation and development activity of longer-term production process refinements.
  • Contribute to the budgeting process and accountable for overtime management.
  • Demonstrate skills in the leadership competencies of character & capability, communication & collaboration, and inspiring teams to get results.
