About The Position

Charter Casting – Woodstock, IL (Formerly Charter Dura-Bar) is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead third‑shift finishing operations. This role is responsible for supervising employees and managing daily manufacturing activities to ensure high‑quality products are produced safely, efficiently, and delivered on time. The Production Supervisor plays a key role in employee development, continuous improvement, and fostering a positive, engaged work environment that supports Charter Casting’s business goals and culture.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience in a related manufacturing or industrial environment (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience (formal or informal)
  • Strong ability to prioritize, delegate, coach, and provide constructive feedback
  • Proven problem‑solving, organizational, and time‑management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact across all business levels
  • Self‑motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Metallurgy, or related field
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification
  • Strong analytical skills and experience reporting operational data
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of safety, trust, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Supervise and develop production employees, emphasizing coaching, mentoring, and skill enhancement.
  • Manage day‑to‑day finishing operations to meet production, quality, waste reduction, and efficiency goals.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies, procedures, and labor practices.
  • Support and participate in Continuous Improvement and Lean initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with production management, engineering, quality, and support departments.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and hourly compensation reviews.
  • Identify shift and departmental training needs and partner with leadership to execute training plans.
  • Promote and reinforce safety‑valued behaviors; ensure compliance with Environmental, Quality, and Safety Management Systems.
  • Maintain operational effectiveness despite challenges such as staffing constraints, training needs, and employee movement.
