Production Shift Lead

About The Position

Supervise and lead employees in Molding and After Molding Operations (AMO) on an assigned shift. Staff and maintain a fully qualified and efficient team to meet production objectives. Create and maintain an environment that motivates employees to perform to their potential through coaching and training. Ensure team members are certified through training to perform job duties and assign cross-training to promote flexibility and team member growth. Create the daily floor schedule assignments for production that includes the Molding and After Molding Operations (AMO) by assigning work duties to employees and ensuring coverage based on scheduled machine load. Support pre-shift meetings that covers EHS topics and updates, quality issues and process refreshers, and production activities and concerns. Maintain and send out an end of shift daily communication pass down sheet for shift changeovers for the production area that includes daily staffing numbers, all quality related issues, excessive downtime events, and machine status. Support and complete daily attendance and timekeeping records including vacations. Balance safety, quality, productivity, cost, and morale to achieve positive results. Resolve personnel challenges by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending actions. Administer disciplinary action and attendance documentation. Monitor resin levels and load and unload bulk trucks and railcars to maintain resin supply. Follow and enforce company and food safety policies. Maintain performance reviews for employees. Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned by manager.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to lead, motivate, and direct employees
  • Strong computer skills preferred with understanding of Microsoft Office-- Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Promote a culture of collaboration and teamwork
  • Ability to work with other departments to maintain safety, quality, and production activities
  • High school diploma / GED equivalent
  • Understanding of the Molding and After Molding Operations (AMO)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems and issues that arise
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear
  • Required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
