About The Position

The Production Scheduler is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory of parts arriving and being held in the shipping area, coordinating workloads of shipping area personnel, and coordinating shipments by using in-process lot status reports and customer shipping schedules to ensure completed shipments to customers in a timely manner. For the LSBO Machine Shop, this role also schedules machine use based on shipping dates and interfaces with production facilities to schedule parts. The role involves managing inventory, coordinating shipping activities, and potentially scheduling machine shop operations.

Requirements

  • Previous shipping department experience required.
  • Working knowledge of shipping functions.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory systems, preferably computerized systems.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions and shipping/postal regulations.
  • Ability to organize workloads efficiently and to attend to details.
  • Ability to coordinate a variety of activities, including the work of others.
  • Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes and other elements for extended periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing shipping experience preferred.
  • Previous computer experience desirable.
  • Previous experience in a machining facility (LSBO Machine Facility only).
  • Basic knowledge of machining production (LSBO Machine Facility only).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory of all parts in the shipping area.
  • Log all outgoing shipments in the inventory system.
  • Initiate paperwork to remove parts from inventory to stock crib.
  • Calculate and report daily in and shipped dollar figures.
  • Make adjustments to the computerized inventory system as needed.
  • Schedule shipping area clerical, marking, and packing activities.
  • Ensure effective workload of personnel, including end-of-month workload scheduling.
  • Order inspection certification paperwork and ensure proper paperwork remains with parts.
  • Apply castings in inventory to scheduled and blanket customer purchase orders.
  • Maintain export licensing logbook.
  • Route all shipments according to standard instructions and customer specifications.
  • Maintain routing log book.
  • Communicate daily with planning, engineering, operations, and freight carriers.
  • Order supplies for the shipping area.
  • Schedule shipments to vendors for outside processing.
  • Schedule machines daily for each shift based on required shipping dates (LSBO Machine Shop only).
  • Interface with planning and engineering departments (LSBO Machine Shop only).
  • Identify potential capacity problems for the supervisor (LSBO Machine Shop only).
  • Work with supervisor to identify hours, by part number, to be scheduled for outside sources (LSBO Machine Shop only).
  • Provide Tool Crib supervisor with production schedule by part number (LSBO Machine Shop only).
  • Provide supervisor with development parts list and new programs (LSBO Machine Shop only).
  • Coordinate fixture requirements for new production programs (LSBO Machine Shop only).
  • Work with supervisor to forecast short and long-term staffing, machine, and space requirements (LSBO Machine Shop only).
  • Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
  • Safely operate all equipment and tools.
  • Identify and report safety problems.
