About The Position

The Production Scheduler creates and maintains a two-week production schedule and creates cycle orders for the Mill Room and Packaging departments to meet customer and inventory needs. The role collaborates with Supply Chain, Operations, and Customer Service to inform production scheduling and prioritization. It is based in Portland, Oregon, with a hybrid work arrangement and a day schedule Monday through Friday. The primary work environment is an office; remote work may be available as an option. Employees may be exposed to common food allergens. The Production Scheduler works with internal partners to coordinate production, maintain product availability, meet fill rate targets, and improve planning processes. The position reports to the Production Planning Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in production scheduling using an ERP, or related experience, with the stated education alternative also accepted.
High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and additional experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and ability to perform assigned tasks.
Skilled in using ERP and supporting software.
Knowledge of statistical analysis and data interpretation.
Ability to learn and understand production schedules.
Strong organization and planning skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Knowledge of supply chain theories and functions.
Effective time management skills; ability to balance multiple needs and priorities, stay organized, meet deadlines, and adapt to changes, problems, and shifting priorities.
Skilled in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Understanding of continuous improvement processes.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Ability to read, understand, and communicate information in English.

Ability to work in an environment where potential food allergens may be present.

Responsibilities

Minimize production line changeovers by combining like-item production runs through long-range planning.
Issue and track work orders, assess production progress, review work schedules, and track late production orders.
Sequence work based on due dates, material availability, machine capacity, and priorities.
Review the production plan to ensure adequate inventory levels for Bob’s Red Mill manufactured products and update the schedule as needed.
Escalate scheduling issues to leadership in a timely manner to maintain efficiency.
Use available tools to track and prevent potential customer shortages and maintain fill rate targets.
Communicate regularly with Operations supervisors to maintain the production plan and share planning updates.
Work with Purchasing, Sales, and Customer Service, responding to cross-functional partners’ interests and queries.
Participate in Supply Chain and Operations stand-up meetings to communicate process changes, updates, goals, and product shortages.
Review planning processes and suggest improvements to maximize products and increase efficiency.
Follow company policies and procedures and operate equipment safely and in a food-safe manner.
Follow food safety policies and procedures, including FDA regulations, Safe Quality Food (SQF) Standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Report food safety and quality concerns to Supervisors and/or the Department Manager.
Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
